Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1964
Lately we've been getting a lot of mid-year Corvettes coming through our showrooms, ut this 1964 roadster stands out as one of the very finest we've ever had. No, t's not matching-numbers, ut it's got a correct fuelie unit and its numbers-matching 4-speed gearbox, o it's not a bitsa, ither. If quality matters more to you than abstract serial numbers, hen this is your next Corvette. This car has the kind of quality that you see as you're walking up to it, nd almost everyone says, Wow, hat's a nice car!" when they see it for the first time. Something about the depth of the paint, he alignment of the bodywork, nd the overall presentation that gets all the details right makes it stand above the rest. And quite honestly, here's a lot of competition for your eyes in our showroom! I have to imagine that several hundred hours went into the prep work, etting the fiberglass substrate as smooth and blemish-free as possible. Every gap looks like it was drawn with a pencil, xactly the same width and laser-straight. The headlight doors fit flush and operate smoothly, he chrome bumpers hug the body shell so tightly there's barely room for a piece of paper between them, nd all the little pieces were either polished, lated, r replaced to make it sparkle. Photos just don't do this one justice. The black leather interior is equally well done, estored to stock specifications using the utmost care and precision. Beautiful bucket seats show only very, ery minor signs of use (after all, ho could resist taking a spin now and then?), nd with clear floor mats protecting the carpets, verything else looks like new. The door panels are nicely detailed with lots of chrome hardware and blend into a dashboard full of gauges with crisp, right markings. The wood-rimmed steering wheel and chrome knob for the 4-speed gearbox are your primary interfaces with the car, nd the twin cockpit interior provides a fantastic place to go about the business of driving. There's an AM/FM radio in the center stack and even the clock keeps time, uggesting that no detail has been left unattended, nd the gauges are beautifully and brilliantly restored. The new white convertible top fits well and offers a crystal clear rear window, ut that's for emergencies only, ecause this is a car that works best with the top down. The engine is a 327 cubic inch V8 (what else?) rebuilt to L84 specifications. That means a very stout 375 horsepower thanks to that beautifully restored Rochester fuel injection unit and one heck of a big camshaft. Nevertheless, t's sorted out and ready for street use, roviding the perfect compromise between all-out performance and daily driver comfort, balance for which Corvettes were justifiably famous. It's incredibly well finished, ith Chevy Orange paint on the block, ast aluminum valve covers, nd bright trim in all the right places, lus lots of extra chrome to make it really sparkle at shows. It starts easily and runs every bit as well as you'd hope, uggesting that the fuelie's reputation for being fussy is undeserved. The chassis is very neatly finished, ncluding a cackling stainless steel exhaust system that really sets the tone (no pun intended). Beautiful knock-off wheels were finally available in 1964, ith this car wearing appropriate 205/75/15 whitewall radials. It's funny how so many enthusiasts get hung up on numbers and miss the fact that these are machines built to be driven. If that's how you like to use your hardware, his Corvette is ready to blow you away. Call today!
