Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1968
Very Rare 1968 Wide Body "Shark"Corvette Convertible. I have the original hard top and it has what I believe is the original factory original white soft top, hich has some blemishes, ut does not leak. Although the passenger side rear bolt latch on the convertible is missing, he gap is slightly visible. The entire interior has been Dyno-matted before the carpet has been installed
I believe I'm the 3rd owner of this car and I knew the first two owner's personally. The second owner always kept it in his garage.
I've owned this Corvette for 15 years and I've been downsizing as my family is relocating. I just sold my Porsche Twin Turbo on eBay as well.
It had been sitting in my garage for years and until a few years ago, started to convert it to a Resto-Mod. I have the correct bolts, ashers and nuts to properly bolt the C4 seats. I have also implemented the 3 compartment lids for the battery and storage.
I wanted to combine both the 60's with the 90's "ZR-1" style which I think is unparalleled to anything I've ever seen. This car, y the way, s per the data plate, ame from the factory 'Rally Red' (see pic of data plate). Arguably the most desired color of any year Corvette. My plans were to have the body work finished and painting it Rossa Corsa Ferrari Red. I'll leave the rest up to the new owner.
The car has a Chevy 350 cubic inch married to a what I believe is the original rebuilt 4 speed Transmission. I think its a 1972 ish Block. Has custom headers, hrome side pipes, ickey Thompson Valve Covers & L88 Hood.
I started by replacing the seats, ewer door panels, ew red carpet, uper high CCA battery. I've gone through the entire brake system including changing to power brakes, hanged the pads, urned the rotors and flushed the brake system.
I also replaced almost the entire suspension with Poly bushings, ront and rear. Proper sun visors, ear view and side view mirrors,Factory original ZR-1 wheels w/ the proper spacers and a lot of rubber left. 11" inch wheels in the rear. Fills out the rear flares perfectly.
Took the rear drive train apart, ent through it, hanged the bearings, lips, tc..
I replaced the steering column with a new aluminum tilt steering column. Have the Horn cover and sprin, long with a lot of other parts, ncluding original door handles, oldings, etc. in a box that I planned on installing. Buyer gets it all. Just can't get to it.
New Clear MSD Distributor, as the MSD electronic ignition as well.
Car runs and drives very smoothly. Starts right up and idles nicely since I rebuilt the 4 barrel Quadra Jet Carb, ot long ago.
No leaks, o issues but still needs a few things that either I will include or if you have to acquire... won't be much.
Birdcage is perfect and solid.
I have a beautiful white face auto-meter gauge cluster, / radio delete and vents. I have not installed it but for now, have the essential Sunpro gauges (temp, il press, olts) that are connected and will enable you to monitor the essentials.
Really, he only issue is the going through the body work (especially the bottom front fascia work) and paint. Some paint was buffed too heavily w/ a polisher hence the whiteness on some parts of the body. The right front fender has a crack in it because it fell off a jack stand. Because it's fiberglass, ot too bad.
If you want to make it perfect and show quality, think its a $45K car all day.
I have all the receipts for everything mentioned plus I'm sure I left out so much. The buyer can have all the the records/receipts mentioned.
Clean and clear Title in hand.
