Description51 Chevy Custom Coupe. 383 stroker. 3:73 gears. rack and pinion steering! We are a volume motorcycle dealer in Mansfield Texas. we trade for all types of vehicles. You are looking at a 1951 Chevrolet Style line business coupe. It has had the same owner for 17 years and has a clear Texas title. This car has numerious upgrages to make it perform and drive good considering its age. The motor is a Chevy 383 stroker with roller rockers and a gear drive Crane 84 degree cam. Holley carburetor . Mallory distributor. Griffin aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan. The transmission is a built turbo 350 with a shift kit and an Art Car 3000 stall. The rear end has 3:73 gears and a limited slip differential. It has an amazing array of gauges. fuel. water temp. oil pressure. clock. volt meter. amp guage. transmission temperature. vacuum. tachometer. The speedo shows 3979 miles however it is not working. The dash is painted a glossy red. the front seat. door panels and headliner look great. The two piece windshield has been replaced with a one piece Oldsmobile windshield. The headlights have been frenched in as well as the tail lights and dual antennae also frenched in. The custom hood and deck lid are fiberglass. the bumpers are aluminum and the front grill is custom. To open the doors you must roll down the window and pull up on the antenna. There is storage space under the rear package tray. The trunk has not been finished out. it houses the battery and the fuel filler. Thr truck lid does not lock or have a latch. There is a pvc pipe to hold the trunk open to fuel the car. The hood has a dual release. one in the rear and one in the front. it has a custom made wire frame to prop the hood up for car shows. It has a late model front suspension clip that has coil springs suspension. disc brakes and power rack and pinion steering. This makes the car ride a drive real nice for a 1951 year model. With the powerful V-8. 3:73 positrac and an Art car stall it has no problem roasting the rear tires. The gearing is great for the stop light grand prix but would be better served with a 700r4 over drive transmission for highway cruising. The paint on the car is a heavy metallic and sparkles in the sun. the quality of the paint is driver quality. Looks good for cruising and drive in car shows. There are a lot of flaws in the paint. bubbles near the windows on both doors. Its not a super chevy best of show paint. just a good 20 footer. and not so perfect that you are afraid to drive the car.
