Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1972

This lovely 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been nicely preserved and includes a big block V8, making it the ideal combination of beauty and beast. It's certainly high-visibility and someone has clearly taken exceptional care of it throughout its life. Reasonably priced Corvettes are still out there, and there just can't be many nicer than this. Thanks to a lot of TLC throughout its life, the car needed no bodywork to achieve the brilliant finish you see today. It was originally code 912 Sunflower Yellow, but during a full repaint a few years ago, it was given a coat of brilliant code 973 Mille Miglia Red. Remarkably, Mille Miglia Red was one of the less common colors for 1972, accounting for only 2478 units that year, fewer than Elkhart Green, or even plain old Classic White. The finish is not too light, not too dark, but a strong, bold red that looks great on the timeless shape and is ideal for a performance car equipped with a 454. All the panel gaps are factory correct, and there's less orange peel in the paint than you received in 1972, thanks to careful prep and a good amount of time invested in buffing the finish. And when it comes to C3s, you're either a chrome bumper guy or a rubber bumper guy; this one sports the original style chrome units that frame the egg crate grilles up front and add interest to the flat rear panel. The stainless trim appears to be original, and even the accessory luggage rack on the rear deck is bright, shiny chrome with no issues. As a well-maintained car, the line between the original components and new pieces is blurry, but that's a good thing. The code 400 standard black interior shows just the right amount of patina, and it's difficult to determine what has been replaced. We suspect the door panels and seat covers are replacements, and the carpets look fantastic, almost too good to be original. The gauges are crisp and their lenses are scratch-free, more proof that someone cherished this car from day one. The center console is excellent, and houses the shifter for the automatic transmission, which is actually an excellent choice with the torquey big block. Other features include a newer AM/FM/CD stereo system, a set of Stingray-logo floor mats, and a 3-spoke wheel that looks great. Pull the T-tops and hit the road! The engine is a neatly-dressed 454 cubic inch big block V8 that gives this Corvette enough potency that most cars are still advised to leave it alone. The engine bay shows signs of maintenance throughout its life, and though much of it has been restored and the engine rebuilt, the condition of the inner fenders and firewall suggest that this car has always been clean. Details like the chrome air cleaner and valve covers add a lot of eye candy, along with that traditional Chevy Orange paint. The smooth big block runs beautifully, starting almost instantly and it sounds awesome exhaling through a set of long-tube headers into a healthy dual exhaust system with Flowmaster Mufflers. It's tidy underneath, not detailed for show but with no warning signs, either, and with a set of classic Rally wheels, it looks the part of a performance icon.Clean, honest Corvettes don't get much nicer than this, especially if you're the kind of guy who likes to just jump in and go. This one represents a lot of big block fiberglass for not a lot of money. Call today!
