AM/FM Radio. Defrost. Heat. iPod Compatible. Vinyl Interior SELLER REMARKS There's still something appealing about old pickup trucks that aren't too fancy. Trucks like this 1964 Chevrolet C10 stepside were working on farms before they were collectors' items and they retain that image of a home-grown American work ethic. and if you can enjoy this one on sunny days and still put it to use. well. that's even better. This silver pickup has been pretty comprehensively overhauled in the past year or so. including fresh paint over that distinctive Chevy bodywork. The creases and folds make it instantly recognizable and by starting with a pretty clean truck they were able to get some great results. The silver paint was a good choice for a truck that's neither destined for the show field nor ready for retirement and the white top adds a period contrast that works rather well. Stepside beds. particularly on trucks of this vintage. give it a sporty look with those flared rear fenders. and we especially like the side-mounted spare tire. which adds a utilitarian charm that totally works. The bed was fitted with fresh red oak planks and stainless rub strips. and the sides were painted satin black for a clean. finished look. A fresh two-tone gray and black interior thoroughly updates the cab. which was stripped bare and refinished. New carpets on the floor. a fat wood-rimmed steering wheel. and nice-fitting door panels all help dress things up inside. You'll also note an under-dash A/C unit. which was a period accessory available at places like your local Chevy dealer as well as. say. Montgomery Ward. That system was also rebuilt and now uses R134a refrigerant for easy service in the future. The factory instrument panel covers little more than the basics. but the lettering is clean and clear and it all seems to work like it should. Basic three-on-the-tree shifting is actually a lot of fun in today's world of automatics and there's a later AM/FM/iPod stereo radio in the dash for entertainment. Clean. simple and unpretentious. this Chevy has a lot to offer. When you open the big clamshell hood. you might be surprised to see the original 230 cubic inch inline-six rather than a late-model V8 crate motor. In truth. nothing re-creates the past like original machinery. and while this one has been recently serviced. it hasn't been significantly modified so the truck drives like 1964 all over again. The list of work to get it into shape is rather extensive. including a full tune-up. a rebuilt carburetor. a new aluminum radiator. new lines and hoses throughout. and a full brake system including master cylinder and wheel cylinders. They also gave the valve cover a shot of Chevy Orange paint to brighten things up and even with that big A/C compressor. service access is excellent. The 3-speed shifts easily with light clutch action and it happily cruises at modern highway speeds without a lot of effort. It's definitely original underneath. but it's not deteriorated and hasn't been undercoated. so you can see just how honest this truck really is. Color-matched Rally wheels give it a sporty look and wear fat 225/70/15 Cooper radials at all four corners. An clean old pickup that's been thoughtfully freshened and is now ready to enjoy. this Chevy still has a lot of life left and just wants to stay busy.
