Hello Bidders & Big Fin Fans,This 1960 CHEVROLETIMPALA was just taken out of storage and has been gone through and cleaned and is now ready to enjoy as show/driveroriginal! A "True Survivor" and restored with 1 repaint only! Now currently in Colorado thisa great 60's CLASSIC car to invest in today, as these "ORIGINALS" are very hard to come by and very hot on the market, if you can find one. With the Classic Fins & Lines, with thelooks of Flying while standing still !This design was allby the great Mr. Harley Earl, GM Designer extraordinar...! (as seen below)
NOW MORE details about this CONVERTIBLE...
History & Body and Paint; This1960 CHEVROLETIMPALA CONVERTIBLEwas purchased new in Minnesota from a wealthy Chevrolet / Cadillac Car Dealership Owners wife. She drove this car off the showroom floor in 1960 and was driven sparingly until 1965 and then the car was stored in a secret dealership personal owners warehouse. The car was stored with a lot of other rare dealerships favorite cars (over 50+) that the Dealership Owner Husband hidthem until 2007.The family's estate needed to be settled and the cars were all sold. Most of the cars needed some repaints and tires and freshening up. This car had all original untouched interior, perfect original padded dashand Convertible top all still perfect and inplace! (Top showing some staining spots on top) Some of the cars were worked on over the years at the warehouse also. This one had some old school undercarriage welding done and some work that under todays standards would not be a "frame off total show", but it is all well done and used solid thicker steel from the era! All Rockers and lower correct stamped pans, lower rear quarterswere all repaired. As this one finally came out in 2008, this one got a complete repaint and tires, brakes, and a complete top to bottom cleaning. Note: The dealership applied the new undercoating at the dealership to protect a minnisota car and it held up well for the 56,000 miles driven. This was mostly all removed, as it was old and brittle and causing some scale surface issues. A new thinner application was applied to protect and make the undercarriage look nice again as shown. As we said earlier, Some of the braces and all of the rockers were replaced, with new structural metal and rear lower pans were set in welded in place and seam sealed.A brand new gas tank, sending unitwas Installed.
More History: This Convertible was early car and was built at the Lansing, MI.plant in late October 1958. It Spent it's early life inbeautifuldowntownSt Paul, MNareathen was put away into storage since 1965! The body isvery straight and very dry now overall, seams, welds, main floors, braces. One of thestraightest Convertibles I have seen in a while! Front fenders are solid, doors solid, trunk lid and Hood all solid. If you were to improve on this car the body could be lifted off and a frame restoration could be done and some newer floor work done for show only as it is solid as is, only for top notch, show under carriage looks if needed.. The car is, "as is" as shown with no major body damage to the car, Note; the front passenger forward horn was straightened at some point, veryminor and is fine now.
Interior: The interior is ORIGINAL! SEATS AND ALL SIDE PANELS (under the lower chrome strip front doors ONLYwas replaced and recovered in the protective plastic again) PADDED DASH, Convertible VISORS,ALL ORIGINAL !and so is theCONVERTIBLE TOP. The carpet is new correct salt and pepper pattern. (No, the Original vinyl and carpet original pattern was not there) glove box is original with all manuals. Trunk Area is Original, Spare with original jack and mat flooring with original cardboard sides!
Working Component Options: PowerTop works great up & down, key and switch and front dash switch, lights, radio, 2speedwipers, fan high low for heater is good, side vents work, clock when it wants, lower dome lights work nice- all doors, glove box works good, locks, door handles work, vent windows open close with cranks, high beam indicator good, the blinker indicators and signal switch,AM radio no rear speaker, truns on with light,All doors shut tight, lock, and the keys all fit and work properly. Windows all work good!
Glass & Weather-Stripping: Glass is all good ORIGINAL! SAFETY PLATE GLASS, EVEN FRONT WINDSHIELD and rear Convertible Top Glass!,but for the (drivers front side and rear side),overall nice glass from factory. Weather stripping, original and in good shape for a convertible!!! doors are new. trunk looks original also.
Chrome, Pot Metal, Stainless: The bumpers are alloriginal, but for two re-chromes, rear side outer and the center, front have some slight scuffs here and there, driver / show condition overall. The Side Stainless trim & pot metalisgreat part of this car, beautiful shape overall. Beautiful side Gold & Silver Impala Side Emblems and Trunk Flags Emblem and the Front GrillNose 348 Flag Emblem still shows great for 57 years old!.
Mechanical: 348 Engine and Power Glide Automatic Transmission, this is aoriginal actual Title documented 56,495 mile car from every aspect we see thisshould becorrect. Everything under hood looks original, Engine fired right up after sitting for a fewyears. The fluids have been changed, oil, new radiator, no smoking. Rebuilt front end and Power Steering! Runs & soundsstrong for Big Block 348! Brakes are good shape 85-90%. New Exhaust with Duals! Very good 348 Original Engine& Original4 barrel carb, all Originaland is all matching numbers. Brakes are good,E-Brake works GOOD. Tires are 4 New B.F. Goodrich Bias Ply, have500 miles on them. Still showing the Spiral Shocks from the factory!
Overall: This 1960ChevroletImpala Convertiblehas got to be one of the last remainingclean unmolested survivors out there.
