Description for Chevrolet Impala 1965
Rare barn find! Atrue Survivor! All original unmolested numbers matching car. Rare 1 of 388 Chevy Impala SS 396/425HP. This car was born with a L78 engine 396/425HP with a 4 speed Muncie M21 Transmission. No factory air or power steering. This car was built at the the Atlanta plant in Doraville, Georgia. The 396 engine wasn't supposed to come out until 1966, but Chevrolet did some trial runs on a hand full of cars. In 1965 the put them in Impalas, Biscaynes, Bel Airs and 2157 sport corvettes. They out powered the 409/400HP, But unfortunately in 1966 the horsepower was cut to 375HP and 325 HP. That makes this car a BAD BOY! I'm a garage door repairman and I found the car while repairing a garage door in SW Atlanta. There it was in the garage covered with about twenty blankets. The car had been sitting in that garage for 36 years. Yes, 36 years in that garage. I was tagged 1971 and I found it in 2007. So, I made a dealand bought the car. I paid more than what I wanted to, but came home did a tune up and put a Holley 650 carburator on, changed all the fluids and it cranked right up. Now its been about 10 years and I drive this car about 2000 miles every year. Great car and title in hand.
