PARKWOOD STATION WAGON
A REAL BARN FIND CLASSIC
HELLO 1959 CHEVROLET PARKWOOD STATION WAGON COLLECTORS,
HERE WE HAVE ONE OF THE LAST OF THE GREAT OLD '59 FINNED WAGONS, IN MOSTLY ALL IT'S ORIGINAL ASPEN GREEN PAINT, WITH SOME SPOT JOBS WAY BACK IN THE 60'S. A SUPER SOLID, TRUE BARN FIND CAR, THAT IS SUPER SOLID AND SUPER STRAIGHT. THIS 59 PARKWOOD WAGON IS IN RARE ASPEN GREEN OVER SNOWCREST WHITEWHICH WAS A RARE COLOR COMBO FOR '59. NOT MUCH OF THE SNOWCREST WHITE IS LEFT ON THE TOP, AS THE SUN HAS COMPLETLY ALL BUT WEATHERED IT OFF DOWN TO THE ASPEN GREEN ORIGINAL FIRST UNDERCOAT. THIS IS A VERY SOLID WAGON, AS IT HAS BEEN OFF THE ROAD FOR 40+ YEARS. THE CAR IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU SEE, SIMPLE, STRAIGHT, CLEAN,NO HIDDEN BIG BONDO AREAS, OR THREE LAYERS OF THICK PAINT, OR PARTS AND METAL PANELS FROM OTHER CARS. JUST A UNTOUCHED ORIGNAL REAL '59 WAGON. THE MOTOR & TRANSMISSION WERE REMOVED WAY BACK IN THE LATE 70'S AND THE CAR NEVER RETURNED TO THE ROAD AFTER THAT TIME. IT WAS STORED ONA EASTERN COLORADO FARM FOR THE LAST 35 TO 40+ YEARS. THE CAR HAD THE FRONT WINDSHIELD KNOCKED OUT BY A TREE BRANCH WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE BODY, ROOF, HOOD, OR CHROME / STAINLESS OR TRIM. THE WINDSHIELD WAS50% BROKEN OUT ANDALLOWED FOR THE INTERIOR WEATHERING. IF THE WINDSHIELD WAS STILL ALL THERE, THE INTERIOR WOULD BE AS NICELY PRESERVEDAS THE EXTERIOR WAS. THE WEATHER GOT TO THE FRONT SEAT AND THE PADDED DASH, BUT IN COLORADO IT'S A DRY & HOT CLIMATE AND THE FABRIC WORE OUTWHEN IT WAS EXSPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS. NOT MUCH IN THE WAY OF "RUST OUT" AS IT IS HOT AND DRY, EVEN THOUGH EXSPOSED TO RAIN AND SNOW IT EVAPORATES QUICKLY. THE INTERIOR DOOR PANELSHAVE THE TOPSWEATHERED AND THE FRONT SEAT HAS LOST MOST OF ITS MATERIAL ANDSOMEOF THE STUFFING. THE REAR SEAT WAS IN THE DOWN POSTION AND WAS PRESERVED MUCH BETTER, DUE TO BEING HIDDEN FROM DIRECT EXSPOSURE. BUT, THE MICEDID GETUNDER THESEAT, SO SOME OF THE STUFFING IS GONE ON THE REAR SEAT, NOW ALL CLEANED OUT. THE HEADLINER IS MOSTLY GONE,EXCEPT FORTHE MID SECTION, WHICHSHOWS HOW NICE IT WAS AND SHOWING THE ORIGINAL COLOR & PATTERN. THE SIDE INTERIOR TRIM IS REMOVED FOR RESTORATION AND ITS ALL THERE AND CAN BE PLACED BACK IF NEEDED BY THE NEW OWNER IF NOT RESTORING FOR NEW HEADLINER. IMPORTANT NOTE!: THE GM DELCO AM RADIO IS FROM ANOTHER 59 BELAIR AND IS WORKING AS TOLD BY THE OLD OWNER. A NICE AM RADIO WITH NO WEATHER DAMAGE! NICE BLINKER LEVER AS NEW.
ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN: THERE IS NOW A VERY NICE 348 V8 BIG BLOCK WITH A 4 BARREL CARB, THAT SHOULD BE GOOD TO FIRE-UP AFTER YOU FIND YOUR OWN POWERGLIDE TRANSMISSION. HAVE A SPARE ONE HERE IF NEEDED FOR $250 BUT NOT SURE ON IF IT IS DATE CORRECT. THIS 348 V8 MOTOR WAS INSIDEIN STORAGE FOR 5 YEARS AFTER BEING REBUILT IN 2008 ANDWITH ALL SEALED PORTS AND OPENINGS FOR PROPER SAFE STORAGE. NOTE: "I WAS TOLD IT WAS COMPLETELY REBUILT" ???, BUTI HAVE NO VERIFICATION, OR PAPERWORK TO PROVE THIS SO SOLD "AS-IS". NICE REPAINTED BLOCK SOME SCRATCHES FROM STORAGE ALWAYS ON A STAND.LOOKS TO HAVE NEW SEALS AND ORIGINAL EXHAUST MANIFOLDS AND THE OUTER SMALL MOUNTED ORIGINAL COMPONENTS LIKE A ORIGINAL STARTER AND COIL, DISTRIBUTOR, ETC.
HISTORY, THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN DRY COLORADO OUT WEST AND BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN PURCHASED AT THE FAMOUS "LUBY CHEVROLET" IN DOWNTOWN DENVE, COLORADO. THIS PARKWOOD DID HAVE DEALER INSTALLED FACTORY UNDERDASH A/C UNIT WHICH WAS ALSO REMOVED WITH THE ENGINE IN THE 70'S.
THE MAIN BODY: OF THE WAGON IS FANTASTIC FOR RESTORATION OR A DRIVE AS IS, A RAT ROD PATINA LOOK. STRAIGHT AND MOST ALL RUST FREE! THE RUST ISSUES ARE THESE AREAS ONLY- AS INSPECTED. THE GAS PEDAL ATTACHING FRONT FLOOR PLATE, A 6X6 INCH AREA, DUE TO RUBBER MATT, THE REAR LOWER FLOOR PANS, AS ALL GET HIT THERE DUE TO SITTING WATER OR RUBBER MATTING. THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE SPARE CARRIER AT THE PLUG HOLES, ABOUT A2" INCH AREAAROUND THE PLUG HOLES, A EASY REPAIR. THE LOWER REAR OUTER DRIVERS 1/4 HAS A RUST LINE ABOUT 18" LONG THAT NEEDS PATCHED. THE INNER SEAMS ARE NICE AND THE PINCH WELDS ARE VERY NICE STILL ON BOTH LOWER 1/4', JUST FLAT METAL AREAS, EASY FIXES. DOORS ARE ALL VERY GOOD ONE HAS A PIN HOLE ON OUTER LOWER CURVE IS AL, ALL THE SEAMS ARE FANTASTIC. HOOD GREAT, REAR TAILGATE GREAT,- (VERY RARE TO SEE THAT GATE SO NICE) EVERYTHING ELSE, IS SUPER SOLID AND NICE. THE ENTIRE FRONT END AND BRACES, MAIN UPPER FLOORS, UPPER AND LOWER WAGON GULLYS, AND REAR GATE AND ROOF, ROOF GUTTERSARE ALL VERY SOLID. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS SOME SLIGHT DAMAGE TO THE BASE, AS SOMEONE DID NOT HAVE THE PROPER TOOL TO PULL THE STEEERING WHEEL OFF AND CHIPPED THE BASE OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND BENT THE METAL BLINKERCOLUMN UNIT. (ASHAME!) BUT THE STEERING WHEEL IS IN VERY NICE ORIGINAL CONDITION ON THE OUTER AREAS AND I THINK THE INNER CHPPEDAREA IS REPAIRABLE TO KEEP THE ORIGINAL STERRING WHEEL.
THE CHROME: IS ALL ORIGINAL AND DRIVER QUALITY, POT METAL ABOVE AVERAGE DUE TO DRY CLIMATE NO PITS, NICE DOOR HANDLES & SHEILDS,AND THE REAR WINDOW CRANK LATCH IS BEAUTIFUL AND IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION!
THE STAINLESS TRIM: THIS ALLIS IN VERY GOOD ABOVE AVERAGE SHAPE ALSO AND ALL THERE. ESPECIALLY THE REAR FIN AREA IS FANTASTIC! BEAUTIFUL MAIN FRONT GRILL! REAR HAS RED GUIDE LENSES ARE BRAND NEW AND THE CORRECT GUIDE AUTHENTIC GM LENSES. FRONT HEADLIGHT BUCKETS ARE GREAT SUPER SOLID, AND HAVE NEW INSTALLED HEADLIGHT ADJUSTERS THAT ALWAYS ROT OUT AND BREAK. (NEEDS NEW WIRE HARNESSES INSTALLED.) HEADLIGHT SURROUNDS ARE PERFECT AND CLEAN AND RUST FREE 100%
THE ONLY KNOWN SLIGHT BODY DAMAGE WAS THE FRONT DRIVERS UPPER FENDER AT EYEBROWAREA. THIS WAS REDONE WAY BACK WHEN, BUT IT WAS JUST RESTRAIGHTENEDWITH BODY DOLLY HAMMERING TO KEEP THE FENDER 100% ORIGINAL AND TO KNOCK OUT THE FENDER BACK TO PROPER SHAPE. NOTE: SOMEONE DID DRILL THREE HOLES TO PULL IT OUT FIRST. - BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT NOTE IS THE ENTIRE FRONT FENDER IS ALL RUST FREE. ALL THE HEADLIGHT SURROUNDS AND THE LOWER VALENCES AND OTHER FRONT FENDER AND INNER FENDERS ARE ALL RUST FREE! VERY RARE TO SEE ON ANY 59! NO FRAME OR MAJOR BODY DAMAGE OF ANY KIND FOUND, OR KNOWN, ONLY SLIGHT REPAINT "SPOTS INS" AND ONLY USING "FEATHER FILLER" FOR DINGS AND OR SCRATCHES, LIGHT DINGS, IN ISOLATED SPOT REPAIRS. NO BIG BONDO FILLED AREAS. THIS WORK WASDONEOVER THE YEARS & LONG AGO, AS SEEN VIA THE PATINA.
THE GLASS: GLASS IS ALL VERY GOOD & EZ EYE TINTED GREEN. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ISNEEDED AND THE FRONT WINDSHIELD GASKET. NOTE: THERE IS ONE ON EBAY FOR $250 + SHIPPING,AND THE WINDSHIELD GASKET IS AROUND $95. THE REAR CURVED GLASS IS VERY NICE! NO FOGGING OR SEPARATIONS! WING WINDOWS HAVE SPOTS AROUND EDGES.
