Description for Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1955
This car can be described in three words. Attention to detail. It applies to the work on the body and paint as well as the interior, but where it carries the most weight is in the documentation of the engine work. And when the pressure is on with a car like this, that's where it matters most. There are 14 pages of build and maintenance receipts, and tech types will be in paradise reading it. If you're not a techie,...you can at least appreciate that the guys that built this think definitely knew what they were doing and did it right. Check it out. Starting with that body and paint work, it's gorgeous! Details like shaved door handles and taking all the badges off the car let the beautiful lines of this classic '55 stand for themselves without distractions. Well, except for that big one poking up through the hood. But that's what this car is all about, so it's not a distraction, it's a statement. You may also notice the serious rake to the chassis of this car and the beefy rear tires which put an exclamation point on that statement. The front end is right in character for this '55 with a pair of headlights perched high on the fenders and an eggcrate grill trimmed in chrome which is underlined by a big wraparound chrome bumper. There is a slash of chrome down the side and a bit more on the taillights and back bumper. A custom airbrushed Rat Fink mural appears on the trunk lid in period correct fashion and Billet specialty wheels complete the look. Open the door with the poppers and you will find a custom Black leather interior with plenty of attention to detail. The door panel has brushed metal diagonal accents and red stitching dressing out the armrest. The high back bucket seats are trimmed in black and gray with red stitching, and offer plenty of support for "spirited" driving. The white Hurst shifter for the manual transmission rises from the floor within easy reach for quick shifts under pressure. The custom billet steering wheel looks awesome and sits on a tilt column making for easy entry and exit as well as comfortable positioning. The custom dash includes a Classic Instruments gauge pack in the stock location while the glove box has been nicely deleted on the passenger side. The lower dash in black and red holds a boost gauge as well as a Sony head unit for your listening pleasure, that is if you're not listening to the engine sing at the top of its lungs. About that engine. We will cover the basics here, but please ask your salesmen about the engine documentation in order to be truly impressed. It is a 400 cubic inch powerhouse of a V8 that is blown by an SBC 8-71 supercharger and is set up for nitrous too. There are dual 4-barrel carburetors feeding it with a Weiand intake distributing it, and an MSD 6AL-2 programable ignition firing it. Spent gasses are sent back through the headers and a 3" stainless exhaust. The internal parts have all been blueprinted and balanced and assembled by a professional. That 5-speed transmission gets the power headed back to Richmond 3.55 gear set with 31 spline Moser axles with a Pro-street coil over set up making sure the power gets to the ground effectively. The front end has a Maval power steering set up working through control arms and coil springs. Front disc brakes provide the whoa power to haul all this go power back down from speed. This is an awesome '55 Rat Rod. If you have ever had a mind to own a car like this, then you owe it to yourself to come down and check it out. There is so much more to it than can be covered here.
