Description for Chevrolet C/K Pickup 3500 1988
I have owned this truck since 1997. For many years it was my daily driver. I bought it with 97,000 miles on it. Soon after I bought it I had 2 major service/repairs done by Brown and Brown Chevrolet in Mesa Az. Some of the repairs were, Engine resealed, transmission resealed, transfer case resealed, hydro boost replaced, air conditioning completely replaced, new brakes, front wheel bearings, fuel pump in right tank and switching system replaced. After that I replaced the radiator, and kept the engine and transmission serviced religiously. Around 140,000 miles the front end started wobbling and over the next 30,000 the wobble which only occurs when you hit a bump in the road between 25-40 mph, started progressively getting more frequent. I replaced tires several times and it seemed to help but ultimately after checking the front end I determined that all the bushings were either bad or gone. I then parked this truck in my back yard and it has been sitting since 2013. I have kept good fuel in the truck and have religiously started it at least once a month to cycle fresh fuel through it and cycle the transmission in forward and reverse and made sure brakes were pumped up. This truck runs almost like new. Starts perfectly, idles great and runs cool. Charging system is good, Engine holds 60 pounds of oil pressure at idle and has no abnormal noises. Engine is absolutely stock and only needs tune up parts and filters, and oil change. Recently the switching system to switch tanks has developed a problem and the truck now only runs on the right tank. The body on this truck shows poorly ONLY because the factory GM white paint is peeling in almost all areas, but is the worst on the top of the cab and the hood and tops of front fenders. The body has SURFACE RUST ONLY. It would be an easy body restoration. There are a couple very minor dents in the bed. The frame is good and has no rust. The interior is in decent shape, the worst part is the headliner and back seat which needs to be recovered. The truck has an older CD player and amp that work but I have disconnected power to them. Power windows work but several move slowly. Power locks actuate but only a couple lock and unlock with switch. A/C system is there but doesn't work. 4WD works good. This truck is a nice example of a rust free AZ truck that would make an awesome restoration project and based upon the cost of a new truck like this, this truck has great value and tremendous potential for the right buyer. Successful bidder will need to contact me to arrange pick up when auction is over.
