Vinyl Interior SELLER REMARKS Some cars can get by on looks alone. but this awesome 1968 Camaro RS/SS convertible ably demonstrates that there's often substance under the style. Red over black with a cool resto-mod vibe. this one hits all the right visual notes. and with 383 cubic inches and a 5-speed. well. it's not just handsome. but potent as well. Looking like a heavyweight fighter in a tuxedo. this F-body is all dressed up with an RS grille and hidden headlights. black SS stripes. and a ducktail spoiler. There's a lot of effort tied up in getting the sheetmetal straight enough to wear the sizzling Bolero Red paint so well. and with five layers of clear all color-sanded and buffed to a brilliant shine. people will definitely sit up and take notice every time this predator rolls in. You can see how smooth and flat the bodywork is in our photos. just take note of how clear the reflections are. which only comes from time and money in equal measure. Gaps are good too. so you shouldn't have to worry about hurting that lovely paint when you shut the hood and the lines match up so exactly it looks like the entire car was cut from a single ingot of steel. Of course. there's a cowl-induction hood to give it the right attitude. and all the chrome has been updated or polished. so it glitters against the paint like jewelry. The interior is a fresh take on the original setup. and if you need evidence that GM stylists were hitting on all eight cylinders in 1968. you need look no further than this gorgeous Camaro. Fresh seat covers duplicate the factory patterns. and the other stuff like door panels and carpets appear brand new too. You'll also note an interesting combination of features in this one. including a custom center console. Auto Meter gauges. and a billet steering wheel. which all work well with the color-matched dash. There's a powerful Kenwood AM/FM/CD/iPod head unit in the original radio's slot. and that Hurst T-handle shifter manages a nice 5-speed manual gearbox instead of the original 4-speed. The neatly finished trunk offers a new mat and full-sized spare and there's a brand new black convertible top with a new motor and lines. Nice! The engine is a stout 383 cubic inch stroker motor. detailed to dazzle. and covered in bright chrome and billet trim. With Edelbrock aluminum chrome valve covers and an open-element air cleaner. it gets the basics right and finishes with a lot of other shiny bits that practically require sunglasses to examine. The engine was inspired by NASCAR. so it has a full race-ready look with braided stainless and big anodized pulleys. plus a giant aluminum radiator up front. All together it's believed to be making right around 500 horsepower. The transmission is a Tremec 5-speed manual. feeding a fresh 12-bolt rear with disc brakes all around. Long-tube headers. an X-pipe. and stainless mufflers give it the most spectacular baritone voice this side of the Metropolitan Opera house. A set of subframe connectors help reinforce the ragtop's tub. Chrome Torque Thrust-style wheels from Boss Vector wear staggered 245/45/17 front and 255/50/17 rear performance radials. Take a good look. but I think you'll have a hard time resisting this awesome Camaro. Beautifully built but also wickedly fast. it's everything you've wanted in your ultimate F-body.
