this 1961 impala convertible is a great running great looking car. lets start with the bad. 3rd gear gettin old shifts great but pops out sometimes i believe its an M21. needs some attention to the body behind front wheel wells and in front of rear wheel wells. underneath is pretty good too some small spots. but pretty much solid. there are some scratches on the trunk. some of the trim is scratched (have new trim in boxes in the trunk) lil by lil i was accumulating parts for total restoration. drip a little oil. what 53 year old car dont?. some interior tears on top does not affect operation just appearance. been like that for 15 years. look carefully at the pictures. the good. car starts right up. no smoke. factory 283 four barrel carb dual flowmaster exhaust. interior in great shape. car was changed from an automatic to 4 speed 10 years ago at the same time 4 wheel disc brakes were installed. because it was driven to the jersey shore on nice weekends. everything works. gages. clock. wipers. heat . it runs at a nice 180 degrees . over the years the anti freeze flushed. regular lube oil changes. got nice meaty radial tires with radir wheels. also have original rims and hubcaps. and i have the fender skirts too. this car started off tan but was changed to blue for the movie "riding in cars with boys" it was the car britney murphy and drew barrymore drove to the party. it was changed by penny marshall to match a non running car. also made a quick appearance in the movie "catch me if you can". tonight show. today show. leterman show. the car also has air balloons in rear springs (basically rear air shocks) it was always garage kept. and always maintained. it would go in for a freshen up every spring for the summer. car was started and driven regularly. within the last 500 miles. NEW timing chain. gear reduction starter. valve cover gaskets. starter heat shield. battery. new ignition switch. new flywheel and clutch. btw fluid for the top was filled and all parts checked. this is not a show car but a nice clean great driver. solid number 2. 5 car. this car is ready to be driven anywhere. recently (last summer) i did an 1100 mile trip in 2 days. overall a great car to drive and enjoy for a few years and restore which was my plan till i found my 57 from high school and was able to get it back. so i would like to get that car on the road. this chevy is ready to go or restore. with the 283 4brl duals with headers the car moves great. was gonna put a new crate motor but why when this 283 runs like a bear. in the trunk is side trim moldings brand new and some other small parts and service manual
