Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1968

1968 Corvette 327 Convertible with matching removable HARD TOP Email me via Ebay. Text or Call: 805-236-0210Low Reserve. so this car will sell. This is a gorgeous 1968 Corvette Convertible Numbers Matching 327 with a 4 Speed that has been very well taken care of over the years. The car looks very sharp in its factory color/trim codes of Silverstone Silver Metallic paint (code 986) over Standard Black Vinyl interior (code STD) - a classic color combination. I've decided to sell a few 'two-seaters' from my collection to make room for some 'four-seaters' as my family continues to grow. I just had an all around tune-up (over $1. 00. 00) performed on 3/13/2015 to get this Corvette spruced up and ready for Spring/Summer cruising. The car starts with a simple bump of the key. idles great and drives beautifully - especially on the back country roads here in north Georgia. I'll do my best below to explain the car. but please know that I am not a mechanic. nor an expert with Corvettes. Before bidding. I encourage you or your mechanic to inspect the car here at my home and we'll take it out for a test drive. you'll love it! Also. prior to bidding. please have your finances in order. nbsp;so there will be no payment surprises/excuses when you win the auction. DETAILS (to the best of my knowledge) Interior is in great shape and looks to be mostly original. but some of it has been recently redone with new carpet. new seat covers with new foam. seat belts. new center console. new gauge cluster bezel. new center console shifter bezel. new dash cap. new rear view mirror. and the previous owner told me that he refinished the door panels pulled from another 68. Previous owner also installed an aftermarket radio that has an Ipod and USB hookup for listening to some tunes while cruising - and it sounds great. He gave me the original Radio that stated was in working order - and I'll pass it along to the new owner. All the gauges. except clock. seem to work as they should. including the gas gauge. temp. amp. oil. The Speedometer and Odometer also work. but the tachometer stopped - probably a cable replacement which the new owner can do if desired. I bought the car last year and I'm not sure if it's a very low miles Corvette with less than ~32K or ~132k miles on it. but I have no way to determine that and will leave it up to the new owner and a corvette expert to verify original miles. Title states "Odometer reading is actual mileage of the vehicle unless otherwise indicated below". and there's no other indication listed. and it does not state exempt. Soft Top (black) is older but looks to be in great shape with no rips (and could possibly be the original. so maybe a Corvette expert here on Ebay can help me determine that?). I never drive the car in the rain. so I haven't used the soft top or hard top. I noticed the window on the soft top has some basic clouding. but was told that they now make several cleaners for plastic windows. I didn't want to clean it and run the risk of ruining/scratching a potential original soft top window that looks to be in perfect shape (no cracks. no stitching coming undone). The soft top frame looks great. too. with what appears to be original chrome latches/pins. Hard Top (also painted Silverstone Metallic) is included but needs to be restored and is missing the interior panels. but the window. chrome and latches look great (see pics). I maxed out Pics on Ebay. so just send me a note if you want me to email you some detailed pics. Engine compartment is very nicely detailed as is the beautifully running original numbers matching 327 (VIN 405639). I believe it has the correct HE Suffix 300 Horse 327 mated to the original 4-Speed. but I'm not great on Corvette #s. so I leave those identifications up to you or your mechanic. The 327 runs like a champ and has plenty of power and the car shifts wonderfully through the gears - especially on these back country roads where you can downshift into turns. etc. I love driving these C3 corvettes because of the distinct way they sit low. hug the curves and track around corners. I just had a few other items installed/repaired: new exhaust (front to back). new wires. plugs. cap and rotor. valve adjustment. thermostat housing/hose. hood release cables. new water pump. alternator. voltage regulator. new fluids. nbsp;new battery. a clutch fan assembly to keep this beauty cool even in rush hour traffic. and a few other items to keep it updated (list/receipts provided to buyer). Most of the steering suspension was replaced including new steering assembly. new bushings. and new ball joints. so it now handles and steers very well. The headlights work fine. but just stopped going up and I believe this is just a faulty actuator which is common on these Corvettes. Blinkers. hazards. and brake lights are in working order. but the drivers brake light just went out. The brakes. including hand brake. work as they should. Transmission looks to be the original as well. and it shifts through all the gears effortlessly. Rear is in great shape and I was told is 3:42 so it cruises great on the highways. Underneath is super solid and looks very clean (see pics). It starts quickly. runs cool. sounds awesome and drives like a dream! This car also comes with a bunch of extra parts including the original spare tire holder. original radio. extra ball joints. original 68 bezels for the gauges and center console. and a few other odds and ends. Note: the car had both of the original Vent knobs (on either side of shifter). but recently one of them disappeared. I looked everywhere in the car. and in my vacuum cleaner. but couldn't find it. I didn't think it would look right if I ordered just one brand new replacement Knob (being shiny vs the original one with 47 years of patina). so I ordered two new Vent knobs which should arrive this week and will be installed prior to shipping the vehicle. I'll put the original Knob in a bag and give it to the new owner - incase they want to hunt another vintage one at a swap meet. Overall I would say this is a really nice 1968 Corvette Convertible that you can enjoy immediately. nbsp;cruise around town and showoff at your local car show. If I could keep it. I'd do a 'frame off' restoration and pass it along to my kids/grandkids. but I have several 4-seater 'frame-offs' that are already inline for my kids. These C3's continue to appreciate. Hagerty's puts this car at $27K low range for condition 3. $40K for condition #2. and $50k for Condition 1. and I'm pretty certain these cars will only go up in value.
