Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1968

Up for auction is a beautiful 1968 Corvette convertible in factory LeMans blue with matching interior and an incredible 454 LS6 engine out of a 1970 Chevelle SS. Starting four years ago. the car underwent a complete frame-off reconditioning. The original frame was completely sandblasted and painted. The frame is in excellent condition- no rust. no dents. no wrecks. Fiberglass quarterpanels and fenders were in sad shape so they were replaced with brand-new panels and the entire body was repainted in the factory LeMans blue (color code 976). Interior was completely replaced with all new Al Knoch dash. door panels. seats. carpet. etc. in the matching factory medium blue. New white vinyl top was also installed. and looks great with the blue paint. The car was originally a 427 435hp tripower car. but the original engine is long gone. In its place is the legendary 1970 Chevelle SS 454ci engine. These engines were rated at 450hp but have been found to put out closer to 500hp. I bought the engine from an old GM dealer where it had been stored new in crate. never installed in a car. To my knowledge. the engine was installed with almost zero running time. all parts standard GM from intake to oil pan. Engine has a dual-point Mallory distributor installed. and a standard tach-drive distributor is included in the sale if the buyer wants it. Transmission is a 4-speed Muncie. rear end gears are 3. 70. Factory Corvette power steering was installed on the car. though the car did not originally come with it. While the frame and body are gorgeous and the engine strong. there are still a few loose ends on this car that I simply haven't had time to tie up due to age and health. Vacuum has not been connected to the headlights or windshield wiper doors (though the electrical functions just fine). and the front grilles have not been installed but are included in the sale. along with many other spare parts. There is a small draw on the battery that I have not located. I recently discovered a small leak in the heater core and bypassed it but haven't had time to fix it. Engine timing is very sensitive. has never been properly tuned for peak performance. I hate to sell such a wonderful car with small loose ends. but it can't be helped. I've driven this car on weekends from time to time and have never had any issues with it. The car grabs attention wherever it goes and is an absolute pleasure to drive.
