Description for Chevrolet Chevelle 1972
Up for auction I have a 1972 Malibu that would be perfect for a Chevelle SS clone. The underbody looks good from what I can see. The frame has no major rust issues and the floors appear to be solid. The trunk has some rust holes that will need to be fixed. It will need new brakes as well since the passenger rear drum was seized up (drum was removed so it can be rolled around). The interior is in decent shape. It appears everything is there minus the radio and ignition cylinder. I don't know if any of the electrical stuff works since I never put a battery in it. I did buy a new engine wiring harness for it. but haven't installed it yet. The engine is a 355 (not sure of mileage). I pulled it from an 82 Firebird that I had. The engine ran good for the year that I had the Firebird. It sat in the garage for about a year before putting it in the Chevelle. It has a professionally rebuilt 400 trans that should be able to handle a lot of power. It was built with the plans of putting a 600 hp big block in front of it. The engine and trans are sitting in the car but not completely hooked up. The driveshaft is not connected and neither is the torque converter (which is a new 2500 rpm stall converter). The trans crossmember also needs to be bolted in ( just sits in the frame right now). I do not believe I have a good radiator for it. The roof on the car is caved in and will need to be replaced. A lot of fiberglass filler was used to try to reform the roof and add strength but it needs to be replaced (or major amount of work with the fiberglass filler). The doors appear to be in good shape and open and close easily. The hood has a little damage on the front of it. The front fenders probably should be replaced (or a lot of body work). The passenger rear wheel lip needs to be replaced. The windshield is cracked. The car had a vinyl top. It appears all of the chrome trim is there but some may need to be replaced. I do have new window felt pieces (with chrome). I also have new sport mirrors. arm rests. and rear speaker cover piece. I believe I have new clips for the vinyl top trim. There is no grill for it either. The car does not run and is a project. I believe I have included every detail about the car. but if I remember anything I miss I'll update the listing. I encourage you to look at the car and ask questions if you are interested prior to bidding. If you want to see additional pictures of the car let me know and I will email them to you as soon as I can. The car is sold as is and it has a clear title. Thank you for looking.
