Description for Chrysler Newport 1968
This stately Chrysler Newport Custom was purchased new in Saratoga NY where it was lovingly cared for by the original purchasers until acquired by us this summer. It has logged just 29,000 miles in its lifetime and has never seen a winter. It was a summer Sunday car since new.Originally sold at Carroll Auto Sales in Saratoga Springs NY this Newport was equipped with a 383 Chrysler Big Block, -speed automatic transmission, .76 Axle ratio, ill, elt and wheel lip moldings. Also ordered were a rear window defogger, entinel lighting, usic Master AM radio, inted windshield, lack vinyl top and Fender mounted signal indicators. A dealer added "Comfy Kit" Air Conditioning unit was ordered and installed before the vehicle was picked up from the dealership.
This car looks great in the original Monotone medium green metallic paint with the black vinyl roof. There are a few minor paint imperfections and one scrape in the paint on the lower passenger side as shown in photos. The paint is all Lacquer and even the white pinstripe is original. Body and undercarriage are rust free and original. The interior is a true time capsule with all original seating, arpet and dash in near perfect condition.
Since she had not been driven since 1994, thorough reconditioning of the mechanical systems was completed by us before taking her out on the road again. The brake system was completely rebuilt with new master cylinder, rake hoses and wheel cylinders. The fuel tank was removed and boiled out and the fuel lines were cleaned after replacing all rubber lines. A new fuel sending unit was installed for accurate gauge readings. All fluids, ilters, elts, oses, ater pump, une-up parts etc were replaced and the engine was given a careful tune up. We have logged over 300 trouble free miles on the car now and it runs beautifully. No smoke on start up and the idle is smooth. This car is truly a pleasure to drive.
Original documentation is included: Owners manual, arranty booklet with Certi-Card, br> past registrations etc.
This is a rare opportunity to own a low mileage Mopar in all original condition.
