Description for Datsun Z-Series 1975
This 280Z is the 1st year model of the 280Z (This car is dated 5/1975), hich are truly classic cars and remembered by all who remember the 70's. Hagerty's Price Guide reports that this year model Z is closer to what the automaker envisioned for the 240Z in years past, nd that this year model Z is closer to the 240Z than most people realize. I was surprised to hear that.Exact quote: "Datsun's brilliant 240Z was really the car that its designers wanted it to be forjust the first two years of its four-year run. By 1972, mission controls hadstarted to affect drivability and by 1973, he Z was not quite the driver's car it had originally been. The carbureted 1974 260Z, which gave a 200 cc bump in displacement) was only a stopgap solution. The real solution to emission laws came with the introduction of the fuelinjected 280Z in 1975. The addition of a license-built Bosch L-Jetronicinjection to the inline six-cylinder engine, lus a displacement increase of 200cc, eturned the Z car to roughly 1970 levels of performance. The 280Zwould have performed even better had federal impact bumpers andadditional equipment like air conditioning not added weight. All things considered, owever, he 280Z is much closer to the original 240than most people realize and it's certainly a more sporting car than the280ZX of 1979, ith which it is often confused."
Surprising comments? This is a somewhat more rare version of this Z-series and year, s this Z is a coupe and has an automatic transmission. Most of the coupes at this time were 4 speeds, he 2+2 were automatics. Don't let the Automatic Transmission scare you away! It performs beautifully, o slipping, nd scoots when it's needed. The black interior really stands out with the gold exterior. The exterior paint is great in some places, nd so-so in others, ut none of the paint is worn off and this car has no rust at all. I have detailed pictures of this Z and the areas which are know problem rust areas. There is no rust! All the 70's 240-260 and 280Z's are notorious for rust problems. This Z will eventually require new paint, owever, t probably will not require thousands in body repairs. This was a consideration of mine when I purchased this car in Dec 2008. If I cannot get a decent price for this car during this auction, will keep the car and restore it to it's pristine 1975 condition, hen no price will be high enough to buy it from me! If you are anything like me, ou get attached to your vehicles and they take on a life of their own! This car has only 1 rear view door mirror, n the drivers side.Surprisingly, didn't realize this Z only had one rear-view door mirror until someone pointed it out to me months after I purchased the car! This 280Z has only 85,166 originalmiles and it is 40 years old! The engine andcompartmentare clean and grime free. It is a testament to the care of this car throughout its lifetime. When cranking this Z, t fires right up, o waiting or coxing! The interior of this car is one of the more surprising features, t's immaculate, o tears, o rips, o cracks. It's amazing that it's all original! The only blemish to the interior is the passenger side kick plate is missing (update- ordered 11/20). This car is not for those who are looking to buy/sell and who have profit motive as they're goal. This 1975 280Z is for those who love Z-Series cars, omeone who, ike me, ill love and care for this car like it is their child. Those who know what I'm talking about will understand this. Those people who looked out the window of their parents car from the backseat with utter amazement as one of these Z's pulled next to them at a red light. When I drive this car, t sometimes gets so much attention that it becomes hazardous on the roads. While this can be annoying at times, ou also see the young boy/girl staring at your Z from the backseat of their parents car. As I have read on other listings, his is not a new car, his car is a survivor from a bygone era! It is not perfect, hings break, ike the hood release did on me a week or so ago, have been as upfront and forthright as I can. If I missed anything or made a mistake, t isn't intentional. I, ike my Z, m not as young as I used to be, nd sometimes I forget or miss something. I hope that you will appreciate this car as you would any American Classic Car. This car is a great car, t will take care of you, f you take care of it. This car needs to be in a garage, rotected from extreme heat and cold. It is old, t is going to act old at times! It's going to be a pain in the butt sometimes, ut it will also remind you why you have it when you are cruising down the beach, nd no one else has a car like yours, nd you know it!! Good luck!
