Description for Dodge Challenger 1970
Here is one of the most RUST FREE E-body cars I've seen in a long time! It was rescued from a junk yard in Arizona about 15 years ago. The floor pans and trunk pan are ABSOLUTELY solid. I can't find any rust holes in them anywhere! I'm reluctant to call them perfect, but it's so solid and clean it's very impressive. Also rust free are the Torque boxes, cowl, firewall, doors and door jams, window channels and trunk lip. The only rust damage I have found are around the rear wheel well lips, the lower rear quarters (about the bottom 2-3") and one nickle size hole in the driver's side rocker just behind the door. The car does have minor surface rust as seen in pictures. If you have ever had to deal with a car that needs new floor pans and trunk pan, you'll understand the value in getting a car like this one that is so solid. It will literally save you thousands of dollars in the restoration process.
While in the junk yard the VIN tag and Trim tag were removed. When I got it, someone had installed part of a '70 front end. It's actually a '73, but without a VIN tag, this car seems destined to be built as a Restomod or Race Car. Therefore, I decided to complete the '70 transformation and had it titled by the State of Utah and got a State Assigned VIN tag. I haven't changed the tail light panel, but have installed 1970-71 Goodmark front fenders and an original Rallye hood. Also while in the junkyard, someone had damaged the Right rear quarter panel and C-pillar. I have installed a good used quarter to repair that damage. There are a few welds that need to be finished up but it's 90% complete. Pretty easy to take care of what's left and dress the welds. The Left rear corner of the hood sat in dirt and has some surface rust that will probably be rust pits which will need to be filled when stripped.
The rear end is an 8 3/4, has Power Brakes (disc on front), Power Steering, all the glass is good, windows roll up and down, has a good center console, nice and straight bumpers, great original '70 front valance, Rallye dash bezel, but the gauges I have are just the standard gauges. The dash is pretty crusty from that Arizona sun and will need to be replaced. I have most all of the trim, as far as I can tell, except for the lower windshield trim corners and two headlight retainer rings. The outside door handles are not functional, but I have an old set of functional handles that go with the car. I will at least get the Driver's side handle installed this week. These handles are nothing special. Just decent ones to use during the restoration.
There is no motor, trans or driveline. What you see is what you get. Nothing more. I'm sure I've forgotten something. If you want to call and ask more questions, you can reach me at 801 Two Four Four 66 Seven Zero. Brian.
Payment is due within 5 days of auction end in cash or bank wire. If you show up with a cashier's check, plan on waiting 7 days for it to clear your bank and mine before you can take the car home.
Shipping will be your responsibility to line up and pay for. I can/will help load on my end. The car rolls and steers just fine.On Apr-17-16 at 17:13:43 PDT, seller added the following information:
I do have door panels and just one rear panel for the passenger side. I forgot to take pictures of the door panels. They are good driver quality.
