Description for Dodge Coronet 1968
Often imitated but rarely seen, they only made 10,900 1968 Dodge Coronet R/Ts (hardtops and convertibles total.) That makes any real R/T a cherished classic today. So you know it's something truly special to find an preserved example that is correct right down to the vinyl roof, A/C interior, and numbers-matching 440 V8. And yes, it has all the right paperwork to back it up! This car is celebrating the half-century mark, and so you might never find one in such a nice survivor-grade condition. The Metallic Turquoise paint is believed to be the original application from the St. Louis factory. It shows a few age spots, but it still has a wonderful luster in the sunshine. So it has that ideal presentation that lets people know its original while still having a wow factor - exactly what wins at survivor car shows these days. But it takes more than the paintwork to be this nice. The sheetmetal is straight and in good shape, with doors that you can close with confidence. All the right brightwork is in place, including the extra wide chrome bumpers. And while the black vinyl roof gives this plenty of sophistication, it also can't hide its aggressive nature. The power bulge in the hood, correct R/T badging, and Mag wheels with redline tires remind you that this is a true muscle machine. The upscale bucket seat interior looks great, and the included window sticker will tell you this is a loaded machine that retains all its best original features. The door panels and headliner maintain a bright white, and the matching seats don't even have a button out of place. This coupe has averaged less than 1,600 miles annually, so this low usage helps explain why something so nice can be believed to be original to the car. There's plenty of style on the bright center console, three-spoke sports steering wheel, and extra wide dash. Plus, all the best features are still in working order - from the AM radio to the cold-blowing air conditioning. Open the hood, and see one of the best motors of the muscle car era. The 440 Magnum V8 is a legendary for providing power and leaving a serious rumble in its wake. The partial VIN stamp on the rear of the block is visible to confirm this to be a numbers-matching 440. This Mopar big block looks exceptionally honest, right down to the correct Carter AVS four-barrel carburetor. But more than just providing some of the best muscle car power for the streets, the Magnum was known to be one of the easiest to live with, too. This is backed up by great driving features such as the original Torqueflite A727 three-speed automatic transmission and power steering. Not only do you get the original window sticker, but also the sale comes with the factory buildsheet, owner's manual, and original warranty card. So this is one powerful Mopar that has serious pedigree, too. Something this special won't stay here long, so don't miss out. Call today!!!
