Description for Dodge Coronet 1970

1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee V-code 440-6 pack

1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee factory 440-6 pack V-code!!! This real 6-pack Super Bee (WM23V0A140xxx) is extremely rare and is 1 of 473 hardtop automatics ever made! The Bee is a factory FC7 Plum Crazy car with the N96 fresh air Ramcharger hood option, a.m. radio and factory dual exhaust with chrome tips. Some very cool added options are the bucket seats and console, hood pins, 15" rallye wheels, power steering, front disc brakes, white Super Bee "C-stripe”, 6-way driver seat, Tic-Toc Tach, 26" radiator, Go-Wing and a black vinyl top.

I just finished a light restoration on this absolutely awesome car. I believe the Super Bee was restored in the early 2000's. I have some prior owner info from OH and CO and Ohio odometer discloser saying the mileage 9,450 is correct but would be difficult to prove. My PA title is also showing as true miles. This fine Super Bee provides an excellent all purpose car for shows, cruises and cruising! Although not a 100 point concourse car... it will certainly garner respect and hold it's own at any show. There were only 1,072 hardtop 440-6 pack Super Bee's produced (599 with 4-speeds and 473 with automatics) and that's before the High Impact Plum Crazy Purple and Ramcharger Hood!

PAINT, BODY AND FRAME

The Super Bee is an extremely nice bodied Mopar and wasn't some AMD patched together rusted out shell. I would have to guess it spent most of it's life out west and in good weather. The body and panels are very straight and in super nice shape for original sheet metal! All of the Super Bee's body sequential numbers match on the radiator support, trunk lip, fender tag and the VIN tag authenticating it is a REAL V-Code 440-6 pack Super Bee. The Super Bee appears to have all its original sheet metal with only some very minor work done. The Bee has had some minor lower quarter panel and rocker work done but looks very good. The floor boards, doors, fenders, trunk floor and trunk extensions are all in great shape and appear to be original. Even the factory tabs are still on the lower quarters as well as the gray plastic factory plugs in the trunk extensions. The bottom inside edges of the doors are spotless and look fantastic! The original trunk floor has some minor work done and looks great. The frame is in excellent shape and the undercarriage is also very clean and neat with no rust. The paint I believe is around 15 to 17 years old and still looks excellent. There are two very small paint blisters by the chrome windshield molding (smaller than a dime). There are a few paint chips that were brush touched and clear coated. They are mainly on the top edges of both door to quarter and some of the hood edges. There are two small lines/cracks in the paint about an inch long on the top of the hood near the front. The door and trunk jams are excellent and the paint looks extremely nice! I have photo's of these on the extra picture link below. All in all the paint for it's age I would still give it a 7 out of 10 and overall it still looks awesome!!! The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1200, 1500 and 2000 grit paper to achieve a high caliber ultra finish. This long process alone took over 60 hours and the finish shows it!I am also very picky and critical, as well as honest so please do not hesitate to call me as I will crucify my own car!

GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM

The glass is in very good condition. The front windshield is newer and the side and rear glass are original and have just a few minor scratches/flaws (normal for the age of the car). All windows operate and line-up nicely. The newer outer door handles and remote drivers mirror still look excellent. The front/rear bumpers are in very nice shape. The antenna is a complete new kit with bezel and gasket. The trim is clean and was polished for optimum shine. The front grill looks great and the vinyl top is newer and also in very nice condition. The rear tail lights are nice but the chrome bezels appear to be original and have a few marks. The side marker lenses are in good working condition but the lenses themselves are more driver quality.

INTERIOR

The interior is in excellent shape and has a newer headliner installed, newer seat covers, door panels (Legendary dated 2002), trunk divider and speaker shelf. All factory gauges work and operate correctly and appear to have been restored at some point. The factory oil pressure gauge reads lower so I added an aftermarket one below the dash for accuracy. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, reverse lights, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals and four-way flashers. The fan motor, defrosters, wipers, horn, a.m. radio and E-brake all work excellent! The Tic-Toc Tach also works very well.

DRIVE TRAIN

The strong running 440-6 pack makes excellent power and runs great. This engine runs extremely smooth and very easy to drive in any given traffic condition. I don't have receipts on the motor but I believe it was rebuilt when the resto was done on the Bee. The 440 is not numbers matching, but it is a 1971 HP2 motor and has a casting date of 7- 16 -70 difficult to see (steel crank motor). Casting number is 2536430-7. I.D. badge on bottom near oil pan is 1G109079. Top I.D. badge is G440 HP2. The 6-pack carbs are correct factory 1970 ones. I'd say the build is very close to factory stock and has a very mild hydraulic cam. The heads are 906's with adjustable rockers and was absolutely spotless when I changed the valve cover gaskets. The distributor is brand new is set up to run total advance timing. It is set at 37 degrees at 2,500 rpm and gives you about 17 degrees initial timing. This gives you the best performance, excellent cooling and all around drivability with a perfect idle! The exhaust manifolds are factory HP ones and the casting numbers are 2843992 LH and 2806900 RH. Just installed a new engine oil pan gasket and new rear main seal. The 727 automatic transmission is a 1970 date code correct trans but not numbers matching to the car. It shifts excellent however you want to drive it and is an absolute blast to drive! The Super Bee has excellent drivability and cools well even in stop and go traffic. The 440 sounds excellent and has a nice exhaust, mufflers and factory chrome tips! The rear end is an 8 ¾ with 3.23 gears and posi-traction. This excellent drive train combo runs and drives awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving.
