Description for Dodge Polara 1965

1965 Dodge Polara

LASER STRAIGHT - BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL MOPAR

This is your chance to own an incredibly straight, solid and original 1965 Dodge Polara, finished in two tone Sage Green and White.

383 ci; 3 speed Auto Trans

Power steering, bench seatand manual brakes, windows and everything else – just as God intended!

The 5 digit odometer reads 30,288 miles.

I purchased this car in January 2015 with 23,162 miles on the odometer (I assume that it was 123,162 then and is now 130,288). The title is in my personal name - NOT a dealer.

This car is truly a beautiful car with amazing lines, great color and super sound. Originally from Long Island, NY where it was owned and driven for 30+ years by a little old lady (or so I was told).

I was told that it had been a one owner car until it was sold a couple of years before I purchased it. It was repainted its original sage green and I was told that the engine, trans and rear end were rebuilt - however I can not confirm this and I make NO representations or warranties that the engine or trans were rebuilt. But, since I purchased it 5 years ago, I have put about 7,000 miles on the car and I havehad ZERO problems or issues. I have taken many multi-hour trips - and love driving this car. You will too!

This Polara starts the first time, every time. It runs cool and is a blast to drive.

Original build sheet and trunk/jack sticker are included.

The following is my best description of the condition of this car. Inspections and questions are welcome. This is a great car and I am happy to get you whatever information you need to make your decision to bid. I LOVE this car and would love to keep it. But, my bride says that either it or I must go ... having recently added 2 cars to the fleet, the garage is full.

Body – This car is amazingly straight, there is not a ding, dent or scratch to be found. Finished in its original color - two-stage Sage Green, it is a very very good driver-quality or better finish. I was told that paint job was over $7K. From the looks of the car, it had to have been garaged most or all of its life - itdefinitely has for the last 5 years! I was told that it has had no accidents, rust or metal replaced. I can not verify, but it does not appear to me to have had any bodywork. It it has, they did an amazing job and I cannot see where any metal was patched or replaced – it is that nice. The trunk and all floors are solid with no signs of rust. There is one small bubble (about the size of a dime)just in front of the rear driver's side wheel at the very bottom near the rocker panel. It has been there since I purchased the car and has not grown at all. The underside looks clean, solid and original. It does not appear to have been restored, other than exhaust was replaced with stainless and shocks were replaced.

Interior - The interior is all original, with the exception of the front seat, which was recovered, and the carpet, which was replaced. The dash pad is in very good condition and the headlineris perfect. All all gauges, accessories and interior lights (including the cool little "opera lights") work as they should. I have an Alpine, bluetooth stereo installed under the dash (no metal was cut) with new speakers in the very nice rear package tray. The original AM radio is in place although I don't know if it works as I have not tried to hook it up. There is no speaker in the front dash. Two of the arm rests have small cracks and should be replaced ($75 per set on eBay). The top panel of the back seat is heat cracked (I have an estimate from an upholsterer to have to replace the panel for $150 - just haven't made time to get it done). The original trunk mat is included (but cracked).

Doors and glass - The doors have no sag and close nicely without having to be slammed. ALL gaps (doors, hood, and trunk are PERFECT. The alignmentof all is even and amazing. The window fuzzies could stand to be replaced. I replaced the door handles and the outside mirror was replaced with a OEM mirror in very good condition. The chrome and stainless are amazing. All of the glass appears original and is in great shape. The drivers’ side window has a couple of deep scratches. I meant to see if it could be buffed out or replaced - but I generally keep the windows down so I really don't notice it. The rear two windows skip a bit when winding up - like every old Mopar I have ever owned! But they roll up seal wonderfully.

Mechanical - The Polara is fitted with Mopar's phenomenal 383 ci engine, with 4 bbl carburetor runs great. UPir going to ask if numbers match - I was told that it is all matching, but I have pulled the engine to check. If you can tell me where the numbers are, I would be glad to photograph and send you all numbers I can find (without pulling the motor). Drum brakes (manual) and power steering all operate perfectly. The car is fast and smooth and drives and stops straight. Dual stainless steel exhaust from the original manifolds back with MagnaFlow mufflers. The Polara sounds great, but not obnoxious.

Undercarriage - The underside is very clean and original.

Modifications - Only exterior modifications are the 15" chrome moons and chrome exhaust tips. Cooper tires and chrome wheels were new when I purchased - so they have about 7,000 miles on them and still look new. Only interior modifications are the Alpine stereo and seat belts. Mechanically, I believe that it is all original except the original 2 bbl carb and manifold were replaced with a 4 bbl Edlebrock setup, new Mopar electronic ignition and distributor and valve covers are painted the wrong blue(!)

Known Defects - scratch on drivers window; sun cracked top panel of rear seat; original radio is not hooked up,2 arm rest pads are cracked due to age/heat and reverse lights are not operating (but are all there). Door wind-lace and fuzzies could stand to be replaced.

There are very few of these beautiful Mopars out there that have not been chopped up or otherwise cannibalized.

This Polara is beautiful and did I mention (!?) phenomenally straight. It isfun to drive and will get you more attention than you may be comfortable with - so be warned! Your wife (or husband) will wonder why she/he is getting all the new attention and waives ... but then will realize ...Oh yeah, it’s the car…

If you have any questions, would like additional pics, let me know. Real questions from real bidders are always welcome. If they or you are not, please continue to roll on along.

Bid early, bid often and most of all, bid high! You don’t want to miss this one.

Auction ENDS Sunday, January 26th

10:00 PM, EST and 7:00 PM, PST

Very fair reserve - or just go for it and be a man (or woman) and hit the "Buy it Now" button, before someone else does!

Thanks for your interest.

Chris

Other pesky notes:

Please only bid if you are a serious bidder, with the intention and ability to pay the amount you bid. A deposit of $1,000 will be due within 24 hours of auction close with the balance to be paid by cash, certified check or wire transfer within one week of the end of the auction. Please make sure you arrange any necessary financing BEFORE bidding. The car will not leave my toasty little garage until all funds have been paid and have cleared. Buyer is responsible for shipping or you can pick it up and drive it home. I have described the car as accurately as I can. But the car is sold as is and where is without any warranties or guarantees of any kind (except clear title). You are welcome to have the car inspected before the auction closes. Once the auction is over, the high bidder will be expected to close on the sale – not to come to inspect the car and attempt to renegotiate.

If your feedback is less than 95% positive or you have less than 20 feedbacks, please do not bid or contact me first. I am interested in selling the car, NOT in chasing bad bidders around.

This car is similar to the Dodge Coronet, 300, Super Bee, and the Plymouth Fury, Satellite, Belvedere, RoadRunner, GTX, and Superbird. It is a 383. It is not a 440 or a Hemi and it does not have a six pack - but, then again, neither do you!
