Description for Fiat 600 Multipla 1959
1959 Fiat 600 MultiplaNorth American Version( big beam frog lights and big bumpers) Project Car not running.
The North American version is much more rare than the European counterpart and considered more collectible due to its very limited number made and the smaller number in existence.
I bought this very rare and collectible car with the intent to finish the project from where the previous owner had left it, but unfortunately I no longer have the space of facility to work on it. So I am offering it to someone who can finally finish the restoration.
As you may know, lately this car is getting more and more interest from collectors around the world due to its rarity and history. This particular model has 5 seats. The engine is an original first version 633cc. ( water cooled 4 cylinders)The interior isin original condition with most of theparts. The engine is original but I have not made any effort to start it, but it does turn by hand. Regarding the body condition, the previous owner did most of the body work. He was a body shop teacher for over 30 yearsso countless professional hours were spent tocompletely reconstruct the floor under the back passenger side and repaired othernecessary areas in the undercarriageand also any necessary work needed around the car.Note that the back passenger floor was reconstructed with thick sheet metal and not replaced with replica ready made floor. Most of the body has been sanded. The rare front "bug-eyes" are complete with lens and frame in good condition. The rare big bumpers, front and rear, are in good shape and complete. The engine compartment is in very good condition. The 2 front suicide doors and the 2 rear doors close nice and tight but needs gaskets. The doors still have their original aluminum handles and locks, interior and exterior. The car can be moved easily and turns manually left and right. The rare heat radiator is still under the dash in the front. All the glasses are in good shape except for the windshield which is cracked. 4 slidingwindows in the back arenot seen in the pictures but they are included with sliding locks. There is no gas tank and no wiper arms.
As you can see from the pictures, most of the body work is done so what is needed to restore fully is to put back any missing parts and work on the engine.
If you would like more particular pictures, please contact me. I would be happy to clarify any questions or concerns you have.
Overall I believe this car in this kind of condition is getting very hard to find and it really deserves to be restored fully. As you may know, almost all parts are easily available on ebay and other internet sites. There are many sources for parts especially in Italy. The prices in Italy are very reasonable and you can order all parts you need in one time to save on shipping. I will be happy to help only the buyer to find the parts for complete restoration ( like windshield, gaskets etc..). The car is almost ready to paint, all body work is done. I have many more detailed pictures about the body work, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to see any more particular areas so you can make your decision to see if it lives up to your expectancy. I would consider this car as an advanced project and at a point where the buyer can finish restoring to his taste like theexterior colorand also determine what level of originality to restore the car.
The car is sold in the condition as is and where is and has no warranty. It is located in Toronto Ontario Canada.
The car is sold with Ontario ownership ( Title) in my name.
I can help the buyer to arrange shipping if needed but please do your own research regarding cost of transportation to your area. There is no problem to export to the US and it's a smooth straight forward procedure. Easiest and most cost effective way is to pick up the car yourself. I can store the car for a reasonable time. If this is a concern, please contact me for the length of time you need before you can pick up the car.
I put many pictures, please look carefully. I tried to describe the condition of the car to the best of my knowledge with descriptions and pictures but if it is possible, I suggest for your to come and inspect the car personally before bidding. The car is about 15 km (10 miles)from Toronto airport, I can pick you up if you need. I will assist the buyer to load the car unto a trailer if you are picking up the car personally. The car is located about an hour and half drive from Niagara Falls NY and 3 1/2 hour drive from Detroit.
For international, overseas buyer, I have experience with shipping overseas so I can help the buyer.
Buyers who have less than 10 feedback, please contact me before bidding otherwise I will cancel your bid.
Also if you would like more information and would like to talk to me, please send me your number and best time to call. I still believe this Multipla is a rare find and deserving of a full restoration to get back to its originality. Please check the price of Multiplas sold in auctions around the world in restored condition ( including a few sold lately on eBay in US).
To be fair to everyone, please do not ask the reserve price but bid up to your budget or what you think it is worth. If you are seriously interested, please bid during the auction instead of waiting until the auction closes to ask how much I am asking.
