Description for Fiat Other 1985
A quick Google search will tell you all you need to know about these cars.If you are looking at this listing, I am assuming you know all about them already. It is estimatedthat less than 50 of these cars are in existence.I would place this as a #3 car average in need of some attention based on level of finish desired but not in need of a full restoration. The recentservices performed by Luciano's in Sarasota includes, timing belts, radiator(have original) thermostatbelts etc... The car starts and runs and drives very well, the air conditioning is cold and it currently needs nothing to be enjoyed. It is stored in a temperaturecontrolled warehouse with my other collector and race cars. There is some bubbling on the drivers side rear quarter panel but otherwise the car is in great shape. I have sold lots of cars on Ebay and have maintained my positiverating by listing accurately and honestly. Condition is perception, which varies from person to person, if it is feasibleyou should come see the car in person. This will ensure that my perception and yours are aligned. If you would like any additional photos or to have the car inspected etc.. you are welcome to do so during the auction. Please note that if you bid on the car you are committed to buying it so the time to do your due diligence is before not after. I am often asked the question why am I selling it, here is my proactive reply: Cars like this are not owned. I have been it's care taker, it does not get enough use or attentionso it is time for someone else to enjoy it. This is not a distress sale, I am not interested in trades or crazy offers. The value of these cars, while hard to determine, range from a #4 which is a neglected car that needs complete restoration at $12-20k, #3 Average car $30-40k (based on 2016 sale) #2 clean restored car $60-75k and there has not been a concoursecar sold thatI know of.
For those of you that are not familiarwith the car here is a briefwrite up and history:
Introduced in 1966 the Fiat 124 Spider was one of the most popularcars in Fiat's history. In 1982 Fiat felt the car had run its course and planned to end production. Pininfarina, the company that designed and built the car under license from Fiat, thought the car had a future. They took over the car as theirown brand, the first and only time in the companies 100 year history. The 1983 and 1984 modelswere basically identicalcars to the 124 with a simple badge and name change. In 1985 they released a half year model1985.5 an all new redesigned car with over one hundred changes this was no longer a renamed Fiat 124 Spider but an all new car. The company produced 1200 cars for the 1985.5 run with only 186 designated to the USA. Shortly after the release, Pininfarina was awarded the contract from Cadillacto make the Avanti. It is estimated that less than 50 of the USA cars remain. This is a mostly original well cared for example, it can be driven used and enjoyed or stored and showed at events. While it will need some attention as would any car of its age, it is not a car that requires a completerestoration.
This is a great opportunity to own a very rare highly collectiblecar without having to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars. This car sold new for $20k which is approximately$45,000 in today'sdollars.
