Description for Ford Model T 1926
Here is my 1926 Ford T modified. The car was built this year and finished just in time to race at The Race of Gentleman in Wildwood NJ. Some of the pics are from that weekend. The car ran good and strong. The car is very unique and one of a kind. It is on many of the websites with the race coverage and has been shot for a magazine feature. Lets start with the drivetrain. the motor is a 1941 ford truck 4 cylinder with a Graham supercharger adapted to it. The combination works quite well. You will be surprised at how strong the motor pulls on the top end. The supercharger is fed by a 97 Stromberg carburetor. The motor runs cool. idles nice and starts easy. Behind the motor is a 47 Ford open drive 3 speed transmission. Radiator is a WalkerThe frame is from a 1927 Essex. It has been shortened with a model T crossmember added at the rear. Up front is a Dodge double dip axle with Ford spindles and brakes. The rear is a 1947 Ford truck open drive banjo with car bells and a Model T spring. Steering is from a 1947 Chevy truck box. Wheels are 1934 ford 17 inch wires with Excelsior tires. tires were used and just about worn out. the body is a 26 T touring front half. It has been narrowed 8 inches (still room for 2 people) at the back. The doors were near perfect needing no patching. I made the back panel with a nice raised panel in it. the gas tank is also custom made and is way cool with the set in sides and contoured to the body. The grill is (I think) a 1928 Studebaker that has been narrowed and shortened. Interior is very sparse. as in mostly metal and paint. There is a seat base and that's it. Everything was made to look good. paint is as good inside as out. there is no dash just a 32 Ford speedometer in a 35 Ford column drop. The car is well detailed with cloth wiring. It is near period perfect with just some of the fasteners being the only thing I would change. The car now has headlights taillights and a Brooklands windshield. I'll get more pics as soon as the weather breaks here. Thanks for looking and Good luck.
