BODYWORK/TRIM

With most muscle cars, here's usually a single element that catches your eye long before anything else. But with this Mustang, VERY piece works together to create a virtual symphony of automobilia. With a solid fastback body that's benefitted from a detailed, otisserie restoration, his is the kind of metal that could turn heads in primer; and what better way to ensure sore neck muscles than mixing in correct Acapulco Blue paint? That paint coats fit and finish that puts factory-original fodder to shame. That fit and finish is augmented by a slick satin hood stripe, hich recreates traditional Mach 1 markings. And to ensure this pony will stand out from the herd, verything has been buffed to a show-stopping shine!

For 1967, ord rolled out a bigger, ore muscular pony car. And the 1968 and '69 model years saw that design subtly refined. The front end was cleaned up thanks to a deletion of horizontal grille bars. That brightwork was replaced with a single band of trim surrounding the grille, hich, n this coupe, lso houses driving lights. Above that grille, shaker hood features stainless lanyards and a small, ilver-detailed scoop. Along the car's profile, right Mach 1 stripes hover between clear marker lamps and dent-free rocker spears. At the doors, ody-matched sport mirrors complement traditional quarter scoops and highly detailed B-pillar emblems. Below the roofline, how-quality stainless edges like-new glass. And when you follow the fastback rearward, third Mach 1 stripe frames a broad "M U S T A N G" script, riple-segment taillights and a pony-branded fuel filler above small reverse lamps and quad-outlet exhaust tips.

ENGINE

Back in 1969, f you wanted a Mustang and you wanted to slay stoplights, ou wanted Ford's killer Cobra Jet V8. Lift this fastback's scooped hood and you'll find 428 cubic inches of FE big block that's been completely rebuilt from its spry Holley carburetor all the way down to its May (E) 19th (19), 969 (9) casting date. Long regarded as one of the most iconic mills ever created, actory-supplied Cobra Jets utilized a strengthened medium block, eavy-duty rods, nodular crankshaft, nd larger valves and ports to produce an advertised 335 horsepower. At the top of the engine, am air cowl induction centers a "COBRA JET" branded shaker over a high performance intake. At the sides of that intake, ast iron heads hang polished Ford valve covers over fully restored exhaust manifolds. A familiar points distributor, hich sequences sparks through fresh Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires, ights the fires. Cooling comes courtesy of a stock radiator, hich circulates water through pliable Autolite hoses and old school screw clamps. And squeak-free belts, hich spin a rebuilt alternator via simple black pulleys, rovide charging. Aesthetically, he clean engine bay appears very close to original, eaturing an even combination of Satin Black and Ford Blue paint. And everything, rom the car's tagged Autolite battery to its bright Autolite voltage regulator, ppears fully sorted and ready to show.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Take a look at our professional, igh-resolution photos and you'll see that the bottom of this fully sorted pony is a literal expose in freshly restored factory accuracy. Behind the car's first-class Ford block, tough Toploader 4-speed drives a durable Ford 9-inch that's equipped with solid, oad-ready gears. Holding that versatile drivetrain off the ground is a lucid factory suspension, hich has been fully rebuilt and correctly tagged. Above that suspension, lean floorpans appear solid and show absolutely no signs of rust or weathering. At the center of those floors, ree breathing, rue-dual pipes shuttle spent gases from the aforementioned manifolds to small resonators and a transversely mounted muffler. At the corners of the car, actory drum brakes make solid stops an absolute cinch. And everything rolls on attractive chrome rims, hich spin F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas Custom Wide Treads around polished trim rings and satin center caps.
