Description for Ford Other 19460000
1946 Ford Coupe Street RodFor sale is a unique, ne of a kind, 946 Ford, eluxe Coupe, treet Rod. This body style is also often called a Club Coupe, usiness Coupe, hree Passenger Coupe and a Short Door Coupe. This is the rarest body style produced in 1946 at 10,670 units. In our opinion it is also the best looking, est proportioned, urvy and sexiest body style offered by Ford in 1946.
The common two door coupe has a longer door and roof line with the rear window farther back on the body than this rarer coupe. On this coupe the doors are the shorter, front doors of a four door sedan. The roof line is shorter and the rear window more forward. This gives the roof line a nice curved profile and the front and rear body on either side of the cabin is better proportioned. The side view is curvaceous.
The design of this coupe also creates a large trunk. This was for traveling business men to carry their wares. We use it to carry four folder chairs, cooler and a large canopy that makes us comfortable at the Cruise Ins and Car Shows.
1946 was the first model year available since Ford had halted its production of civilian vehicles on February 10, 1942. Ford, ike many companies of that era, ad turned to war manufacturing. In July of 1945 Ford picked up where it left off reproducing civilian cars. The 1946 Ford Coupe was basically the exact same as the 1942 model under the skin. The exterior took on some subtle changes such as a new grille with horizontal bars and red accents, lso the hood was widened by adding a center strip.
This car is a Street Rod built and used for taking family and friends to Cruise Ins, ar Shows and special events. We feel that the most fun that can be had with a car is driving it. We drive it everywhere we like. The car presents very well but is not a pampered trailer queen. There are some nicks in the paint and other such normal usage things. The pictures show how well the car looks but I don't want to give the false impression that it is perfect in every way. Buy it and drive it. Enjoy the driving experience with this car without worrying about doing it.
This car gets a lot of attention wherever it goes. Some people recognize that in the film, ack to the Future, iff Tannen's car, n 1955, as a black 1946 Ford Super Deluxe convertible. Many car enthusiast notice that the body is unique and ask how we modified it to get the great body shape that it has. They are surprised to learn that it is stock and that the body modifications are few. Ford lovers also like the fact that the car is all Ford. All the major parts of the car are from Ford. The parts may have come from several different years and models of Ford vehicles but they are all Ford.
The body modifications include the removal of the front and rear bumpers. All the body trim has been removed. The door glass and rear window are lightly tinted. The trunk lid has been smoothed and a simple, mall key lock installed. There is a custom rear valance with license plate recess. The taillight extensions have been removed and classic Hot Rod blue dot taillight lens installed. All these are minor modifications that make a big difference in the car looking very smooth and clean. We are often asked what color the brilliant orange paint is. We call it Gulf Oil Orange. My grandfather worked for Gulf Oil until his death and was an important person in my life.
The interior is custom except for the dash which looks stock. The gauges while they look stock are a combination of old and modern. The steering column has a tilt wheel with ignition switch, mergency flashers and turn signals. The headliner is grey cloth. The stock interior lights were retained. Bucket seats, floor center console with arm rest storage, loor shifter, nd a back seat are all custom additions. This body style didn't originally have a back seat but one has been custom added so that you can take friends and family members with you. The seats are all grey cloth and the door panels are black and gray carpeted for durability, omfort and easy cleaning. The door panels have a custom FORD oval made into them.
The inside of the trunk is covered with black carpet. There are two small removable floor panels that cover access to storage areas in the front floor. We store tools, jumper cables, lashlight and a medical kit in this storage space. It provides easy access to these items even when the trunk is full.
Safety and convenience items include, ilt steering wheel, ower front disc brakes, utomatic transmission, electric trunk release, unctioning cowl vent, M/FM Radio with CD Player and four speakers.
