Description for Ford Other 1965
Up for sale is a scary-ugly but very cool Fairlane that will frighten the neighbours dog and make the purists at the car shows hate you. I purchased the car as a basket case several years ago and disassembled and rebuilt pretty much the whole car.It has a freshened up interiour, ebuilt engine and new suspension and brake components. It is a very driveable car that starts right up and is ready to take to your local cruise and will win the "coolest, gly car award", f your local club offers one.
New floors and trunk panels were installed and the everything underbody was disassembled and treated with POR-15. Any hardware that was removed was replaced with new. Underneath the car looks and acts brand new.
The engine is a freshly rebuilt 289 with rebuilt late model heads, ild cam, ntake, ew Holley 650 modified for blow through operation, ut to liven things up, installed two IHI turbochargers and made the required modifications for forced induction and it has been tuned under load with a wideband. It is a very mild engine, ut makes plenty of power and draws people to it when the hood is open.
It has a toploader 4 speed and an upgraded Clutch. It has 2.80 gears in the rear end so it cruises very well. All brake components are new, s well as most steering components/shocks/bushings etc. Staggered tires with 400 miles on them. There are no fluid leaks or any other nonsense. The car was restored/modified this winter/spring and i have driven it about 400 miles this summer. No problems. Turn key and drive.
The interiour was repainted and new carpet installed as well as upholstery on the door panels. It has a few aftermarket gauges as all the stock gauges were DOA. I installed a headliner but didn't remove the front and rear glass and subsequently, he headliner loosened up and got some wrinkles and sagged a bit. Door and trunk weather stripping all replaced and everything opens and closes nicely as they should.
The paint is a little thin as seen in the pictures but will probably buff out. I'm joking. It's ratty looking, nd done that way on purpose. But it is damnably cool and is actually a very solid car. This thing is a paint job away from being downright awesome.
The grill was custom made by yours truly, s the 65 Fairlane had the undisputed ugliest front end of any year, nd so I went for the Mad Max look with some welded galvanized strapping which compliments the ratty paint treatment on the car. It is well built and the grill hides the LED headlights. Nothing was structurally changed in the grill area and if someone had horrible taste and perhaps had a bad childhood, he original grill and headlights could be reinstalled no problem.
Again guys, his is not a race car and was built to cruise and turn heads at local shows which it does well. There are a ton of new parts on it and it was built to drive and show.
Please see pics, nd I have a lot of other photos of the restoration/modification work if you would like to see them. I can gladly and would prefer to meet with any interested party to put the car on the hoist and take them for a ride before their bidding. I am not not ashamed of anything on this car but then again, have never been very proud. ;-) I am uploading a walkaround video I just shot to YouTube, ut you will need to contact me for a link as the last time I tried, Bay would not allow me to add it to my description. Also, f course please feel free to ask any questions about the car, s I will certainly have the answer to it.
A 500 dollar deposit will be required immediately after auction ends or I will send a second chance offer to the second bidder.
Thanks for your interest.
