Description for Ford Mustang 1968

1968 BULLITT Mustang Fastback 2 2 Big Block 502 V8 "This thing is crazy fast!!!"    Rear tail light panel is blacked out just like Bullitt as are the side rocker panels. Blacked-out hood with boss scoop. Rear glass and side glass are tinted smoke. Front fender emblems removed for a stealthy look.   Interior is very nice stock black with front buckets and headrests (rare option) with fold-down rear seat. Factory 8 grand tach and courtesy lights. Everything works but the radio.  Overall Rating 7/10 on the exterior. 9/10 on the interior. and 10/10 on the engine.  Car drives very well. tracks straight down the road with good tight steering. Turning radius is a bit less than stock due to the rack and pinion steering. but is nice low effort with decent road feedback. 4-wheel disc brakes work good. Hurst Pro shifter works quite well with instant upshifts and downshifts when operating in manual mode. Good strong smooth shifts during normal street driving. Smooth running engine. no leaks. no smells while driving. Exhaust note is moderate in the car. and loud from the back.  This 502 stroker 460 gets the pony moving like you wouldnt believe. Step on the secondarys of the big Holley. and hang on. Its capable of breaking the tires loose in every gear with a stab of throttle. Watch it on the curves. and feel the gs pull in the straights. Est 600 to 650hp add in another 150hp if you enable the nitrous at full throttle.  0-60 in just over 3 sec. Estimated quarter mile times in high 10s. Care to do a little exhibition. enable the line-lock and smoke the rears for as long as you want. This Bullitt is a beast and no Charger will catch it today! This will be most likely the fastest muscle car youve ever driven. and much stronger pull than even a 428CJ Mach1 (by alot). I know - I have one.   Runs on 91 octane pump gas with no pinging.   Starts every time and has a nice throaty idle that will surely get you noticed.   You can count on thumbs up from other drivers anytime you're seen in this fine 60's muscle car.   Greatest thing of all. it has the power to back-up it's bark. "South by Southwest Coast"   Originally sold from Fred Jones Ford in Oklahoma City. OK in January 1968. Full documentation all 3 VIN stampings on car match - See marti report. Fast-forward to 2014 a local from Portland. OR purchased from the owner in Los Angeles. CA. Car was trucked up to Portland and in summer of 2014. present owner purchased it and replaced the stroked 460 with the 502 Replaced the entire short block with new parts. transplanted the 429 police interceptor heads and intake system. Less than 50 miles on rebuilt engine. Car spent most its life in southwest US based on the lack of surface rust on original panels.   Body Details   As near as I can tell. floor pans are original no signs of patch or splice anywhere. Floors under carpet were sprayed highland green and carry 1/8in thick sound deadener beneath the carpet. This color change to highland green was top notch under doors. under deck lid. inside trunk area. all door jams. under hood. etc Door rockers and door surround are all rust free and are painted highland green even the door openings where the weather strip stainless molding meets the roof show green paint. Rear wheel openings (both sides) outer skin have been patched likely due to flares cutouts from the past. Rear quarters are original as is rear taillight panel (you can see faint meadowlark yellow paint bleed-thru behind the fuel fill tube inside the trunk - a very hard area to get full paint coverage). 2-stage highland green base w/ nice shine high gloss clear coat. Straight body. good panel fit. but with some paint cracks on roof. and quarter panels. There are some paint chips on doors (from parking lot door openings most likely) and several chips mostly behind the rear tires from burnout debris. There are a couple small dings on the deck lid - looks like someone pushed to hard at one time.   Paint isn't perfect. but presents well - I'd rank it a 5-footer by driver standards. I'd estimate the restoration about 10-15years old. Paint has very high gloss. body panel fit-up and gaps are good. doors open close with the touch of one finger.   Powertrain Details Engine specs: D2OE-AB 72 police interceptor heads w/ 98cc chambers date codes 2D14 & 2F7 2. 225 SS intakes w hard seats. 1. 725 SS Ex with hard seats Bronze guides and positive Teflon valve seals Comp cams 34-247-4 w/ Comp w/ comp cams valve springs and 1. 73 ratio roller rockers In . 562 274deg.
