Tilt Wheel SELLER REMARKS 1969 was a high-water mark for a lot of cars. but few have aged better than this 1969 Ford Mustang sportsroof. Packing its original. numbers-matching M-code 351 and wearing a super cool black-on-black color combination. this is an exceptionally well-done car that drives even better than it looks. With every square inch of the bodywork draped in high-gloss Raven Black. they had to work overtime to get it super straight before a drop of paint was sprayed. The results are worth it. because this stang looks as stunning in person as you can imagine. No badges. no stripes. and very little trim mean that it has a sinister. purposeful look. a look enhanced by the Shaker hood scoop and deck lid spoiler out back. On a black car. it's harder to spot. but this one also has the blacked out hood treatment that only enhances the performance attitude. And all that black paint is beautifully offset with lots of chrome and stainless trim. most of which has been restored or replaced so it sparkles like new. If you were expecting some garden-variety repro interior. you're in for a pleasant surprise. It looks rather stock. but those custom seat covers and door panels were stitched just for this car and not only feature Mach 1 style red inserts on the seat backs. but red stitching throughout for a subtle yet dramatic twist. The material is ultra-leather. so it's a lot more plush and comfortable than the original sticky vinyl and the work carefully emulates the factory stuff so it doesn't need to scream for attention. A fat wood-rimmed steering wheel works well with the dash and console appliques. adding to the upscale look. Upgrades include a set of auxiliary gauges in the center console and a spectacular custom JVC touch-screen entertainment system that's been artfully integrated into the dash. The rest of that entertainment system lives in the trunk. where you'll find a custom enclosure that hides all the equipment out of sight but doesn't totally ruin the trunk's usefulness. A/C has been added using modern components and the original vents. so that. too. stays out of sight. Nice. right?The engine is the original. numbers-matching M-code 351 that doesn't need a lot of massaging to be entertaining on the road. It's dominated by the Shaker scoop. but the Ford Blue engine and finned valve covers give it a period performance look. It starts quickly with a familiar V8 burble from the twin Flowmasters and thanks to long-tube headers. this is a small block that makes big torque. It's backed by a C6 3-speed automatic transmission and a beefy 9-inch rear end. and it sits exactly right on the stock suspension. which is augmented by fat sway bars fore and aft. Classic Magnum 500 wheels have never looked better than they do here and they're fitted with fat 235/60/15 BFG radials. Given the quality of this car. the price is an absolute steal. Awesome colors. matching-numbers. and that gorgeous interior all add up to a car that's far more than the sum of its parts.
