Description:

I bought this vehicle back in 2007 with the sole intent of enjoying something retro from time to time. At the time that I bought the vehicle, t has 30,000 original miles with a lot of original parts. Over the time that I have owned the vehicle, performed service work with the intention of driving the car semi-daily and wanted to take trips in it when I felt like doing so. As a result, 've kept this fine Ford very nice. I originally bought the vehicle through a dealer who acquired it through an estate. The vehicle has been professionally painted in its past and the clearcoat job is light years ahead of the old lacquer that was being applied in the day. It looks like this in person. There are, f course, few minor blemishes on the vehicle but nothing that makes it any less desirable. Read the service and inspection report section for more information. But, f course, ou expect vehicles this nice from Grove Automotive Group, nc.!

Options:

Finished in light blue metallic with a light blue vinyl interior, his very clean 1981 Ford Granda GL features typical options for this era of mid-sized car. For starters, t has the 3.3 liter 200 cubic inch inline six whose design goes back to the Fold Falcon. The engine is backed up by the common C-4 automatic transmission. The optional features include air conditioning retrofitted to R134a, ower steering, ower brakes, ower windows, ower locks and an AM/FM single speaker radio. The Granada "GL"was their upscale version with lots of trim compared to the "DL" . There was a "GLX"model which is more euro styled, ore of a reference back to the older Granada "ESS" . !

Driving the vehicle is definitely an interesting experience. Cars of this era were very tight in their steering and handling due to the advent of unibody construction and rack/pinion steering. The Fox chassis used in this model is shared by the Mustang of the era. The handling is very good! The engine is rated at 88 horsepower and provides adequate power for driving.

During the course of owning this vehicle, 've driven it around Birmingham a number of times and also ran the car back and forth to Chattanooga when I had a second home there. The vehicle runs out fine and everywhere you stop, eople ask what kind of car it is. Unless you notice the small Ford emblem, ost have no clue. They're usually surprised to find out it's a Ford.

The vehicle is currently titled to the dealership and is, f course, ree and clear. I'm selling the vehicle and turning it over to the next custodian who will, hope, njoy it as much as I have over the past nine years!

Service and Inspection Report:

After buying the vehicle, wanted the underhood to be has clean as the rest of the car. So, pulled the engine and transmission and both were rebuilt. The engine I did myself using a lot of information from The Ford Falcon Six Cylinder book by David and Dennis Schjeldahl, hich I am including to the next owner. I enjoyed doing the engine rebuild and did all of the assembly myself. All of the parts were cleaned and detailed as you see in the pictures. On the engine rebuild, used flat top pistons from the Ford 2.3 liter HSC engine (which the book describes) instead of the deep dish pistons the factory used. The flat top pistons bump up the compression ratio a bit and give a bit more performance. I've also tuned the engine to run fine on regular unleaded as the ignition timing was moved up a few degrees.

I sent the transmission out to our local rebuilder so that is all done, s well.

While the engine was out, serviced the climate control system, ulling the lines and flushing the entire system. I also drained and refilled the compressor's oil sump with fresh oil. It is the old style that looks like a lawn mower engine (LOL) but cools the car just fine! A new drier was installed and a fresh charge. It hasn't leaked at all over the years.

While I had the vehicle apart for the engine, decided to freshen up the interior and changed the interior carpet and padding. The original carpet was thick dark blue, ut the newer style light blue really looks much better. I also changed the heater core since I noted a small leak at the time that I was servicing the rest of the vehicle.

Over the years, really haven't had much else to service on the vehicle. I do recall replacing front brake lines and hoses, ut everything else looked pretty good. The car appears to have replacement struts and shocks, ut the remainder looks original.

There is a storage fee after the first 30 days (first 30 days are at no charge) and we offer the storage up to 90 days when the balance is to be paid in full.

You can take up to 90 days to pay for the vehicle as long as you follow the payment schedule that is posted.

What this means is that when you come to get the vehicle or when you go to the shipping terminal to get your vehicle, f you are not satisfied with your purchase your purchase money is refunded. If you would like delivery to your doorstep, ou can request the destination terminal to bring you your vehicle and pay the extra fee directly to them.

Shipping, epending upon terminal location, akes 10 to 14 days in our experience, ut not guaranteed. There is an expedited delivery service available through DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers) for an extra fee, hould you choose this service.

Vehicle In-Person Pickup:

Over the years, early 95% of all customers have either 1.) chosen to have their vehicle shipped, r 2.) picked them up over a weekend. If you choose to have your vehicle shipped, e use the terminal in Birmingham as otherwise described in the listing. If you want to pick up the vehicle, u>YOU MUST CHECK MY SCHEDULE AND CONFIRM SO BEFORE MAKING PLANS. Additionally, ur normal pickup times are over a weekend. This is defined at 5:00 AM Central Time Saturday through 11:59 PM Central Time Sunday. If you want a delivery outside of this time, t must be prearranged — no exceptions.
