Description for Ford Mustang 1968

I am selling my 1968 J code Hyland green fastback.

I've had the car for 10 years and now is the time to sell, I didn't want to sell. I wanted to someday build this car up to the Steve McQueen neat old hot rod she is and just improve it some.

I bought the car out of Georgia so it is not really very rusty at all.

you will see pictures of the floors and torque boxes and while they are no longer new, there are no holes and the floors and torque boxes can be left as is.

The cars factory options are

302 J code 230 factory HP engine, a great running 302 with plenty of power to burn rubber as they say

Factory 4 speed transmission Top loader ford made transmission, with hurst shifter, in perfect operating condition.

Fold down rear seat.

Exterior décor option (which includes the deluxe hood, trunk trim, pop open gas cap, rocker panel moldings

Front head rest seats.

The car is really outstanding, but best thing I have to say about the car is it is at best a decent driver that would need light body work and paint job if you wanted a show time cruiser.

The paint is 20 years old but still shines great. I have had the car garaged the past 10 or 11 years and all I did was give the car a quick wash and it shines great, the car is very straight also..

I would say the worst of the car is the RR quarter panel has a little too much plastic in it, so it probably needs a patch panel or quarter skin. I would do a patch panel.

Currently the car just received an oil change, full tune up, new qualitybattery and ignition switch and key (since I lost the keys) and now the car runs great. I am actually moving the car to a friends shop today and buying all newwheel cylinders and he will have the brakes working 100% so Idbe able to say the car is 100%running and driving. Frame rails are in great condition, the front torque boxes have had what looks to be sheet metal repairs, they are all there still but I imagine anyone doing a restoration to this car would probably end upputting new full length floor pans andtorque boxes in the car. Again they are there now and"solid" but they are what 48 years old now.

To be honest, I watched two very similar cars (both were green) on ebay just last week, check out 302029353745 and 172291140462.

One of the cars went to 20k and ended early (meaning it probably (no doubt) sold for more/that was a 6 cylinder car originally)and the other went to $34k (wow) and didn't meet reserve. NOW there is no way (no offense to that seller) that car is worth $34k or more..

I've been around mustangs now since I was 16 years old, now 54 yo. I have a 67 gt350 and wanted to make this car a driver as the Shelby is cool but somewhat nerve wracking to drive these days (too valuable in my mind).

If you look at the interior. You will see that the interior is actually good original. Theinterior needs a new shift boot (a $10 dollar item on line from Hurst) and the drivers seat had thebutt portion of the seat upholstered. If you look at the pics you willsee I have a new upholstery kit for that seat (in a photo) behind the car.

Car has a nice matched set of BF Goodrich tires mounted on chrome GT styled steel wheels with the NON GT center caps.I believe I have a set of GT caps as well, so the buyer could have oneset or the other. Car also has the GT rear valence. My thoughts were the GT fog lights and then a C stripe and the GT fender badges (like the $34k car has) and you've got yourself a GT clone. That is certainly what I would do with the car.

Any questions, contact me and I' be happy to talk with you.
