This is one of the finest Mustangs for sale. The car was originally restored in 1999. It had been well used in the movie industry and when purchased. was pretty beat up. While the car had no significant rust. it had damage from hard use. All damaged metal was replaced by original sheet metal from several parts cars. All panels were welded at the original seam points. When all metal work was done the car was completely stripped by soda blasting to bare metal. The soda was neutralized and the metal sealed prior to priming and painting. All work was done in a professional restoration shop owned by the seller. A show quality paint job later. many original options were installed and special attention was given to the engine and drive train. The engine si a 289 with 302 heads. It is bored . 030 over with a 10/10 crank. New pistons and valves were installed. The engine has a full roller cam system (Comp Cams) and Harland Sharp Roller Rockers. A Holley 4 bbl carburetor sits on a Ford aluminum intake manifold. The transmission was also completely rebuilt and an up-grade shift kit installed. The rear differential is the original 3. 00 Limited Slip unit that came with the car and also was rebuilt. The suspension system is all new and and includes a power brake system with discs front and rear. Steering is also power assist with a new box by Flaming River. This incorporates a very rare tilt/pop up steering column called the "fat man" steering wheel. The interior was also treated to many custom touches. Both upper and lower consoles were installed. with a modern stereo installed in the lower console. Window switches for the power windows are also on the console. Instead of paint. all interior panels. including the doors were covered in a leather like product from Magilite Corporation who supplies these materials to the builders of motorhomes for the upholstery. The interior was also covered in Hush Mat (same as Dynomat) for insulation and noise reduction. The seats are out of a 1996 Mustang and have been upholstered to resemble the original style. The rear seat and related area is original and restored. The dash is a new one from Classic Industries that was installed in 2008. The car had gone through a shop fire (scorched paint and some melted wires) and was taken completely apart and re-done completely. It has won several awards at shows on the west coast and is driven to the shows instead of being a trailer queen. The air conditioning and three point seat belts make for a pleasant driver. All glass was also replaced with pre-tinted 38% glass. In addition to a complete photo history of the build. there is a Marti Report that will accompany the car to the new owner.
