Description for Ford Other Pickups 1950
Hailing originally from Maine, this fun and iconic Ford F1 Pickup Truck probably defines the word "work truck", apparently having spent decades hauling Lobsters, Blueberries, or who knows what and sustaining creative handyman repairs in those decades, thus keeping it roadworthy. This is a really fun and very unique truck with nothing short of personality and character, and simply tells its own story when looking at and driving it. I would change nothing on it. On the road, reaction from other drivers is fun. Everyone seems to love it with lots of "thumbs up".
Rust? Yes there was rust over the ensuing years which was repaired rather artistically and creatively with steel and some fiberglass, providing for a current and solid chassis and body today. Its original Meadow Green paint was replaced with a Forrest Green, and its wooden bed redone. The floors, having some minor previous repair and doors are very solid. Glass is all in very nice condition. When acquiring the F1, I was additionally given new floors and front inner fender house panels, although saw no need to replace them given the trucks overall personality and solid condition. These will be provided to the new owner at time of sale along with a comprehensive workshop manual.
what appears to be the original "Rouge 226" six cylinder 95 h/p engine, (now considered rare in the F1's) and optional floor mounted four speed manual transmission and 3.76 differential gears, it runs and drives very nicely, starting on the first push of the starter button. There is no smoke, or unusual noises when running other than some characteristic driveline whine from the transmission.
Recent upgrades include a new 12 volt 75 amp alternator and voltage regulator, new brakes and exhaust, new front and rear shock absorbers, new 225/70/16 radial blackwall tires, All oils flushed and replaced with new cartridge filter for the engine, new antifreeze,(correct green) new radiator and heater hoses, the addition of a 12 volt electric fuel pump, complete suspension lubrication(many Zerk fittings to keep you guessing), new correct Champion spark plugs, and much more.
Interior upgrades include rebuild and reupholster the front two piece folding seat, new carpet, new Dennis Carpenter interior panels and headliner, all installed with insulation, and new dash Ivory Ford speaker and Ford script upper plate. Shoulder and waist seat belts were also installed with retractors to keep you safe.
All the electrical functions work nicely inclusive of dash gauges, speedometer (very correct) lights etc. There are no turn signals however the aftermarket kit to install them will be included.
In conclusion, if you are seeking a over-restored F1 pickup with no character or personality, and not illustrating its years of use, this is simply not the truck for you. It exhibits a lot of character in its condition, and its beauty lies in its imperfections. It's a very fun truck to own and drive, nothing more, and presents itself in a almost historical genre when seeing it. Truly unique.
Finally, to the prospective purchaser, I strongly encourage personal inspection. Photographs are great, but a eyes on inspection is invaluable. Inspection as a condition of sale after auction end will not be permitted. I value my Ebaymotors rating, and would not wish anyone to be disappointed by not performing their due diligence. The Ford F1 will be sold as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Please feel free to ask questions. I furthermore reserve the right to end the auction early, given the F1 is for sale locally and on other international venues.
Thank you for the interest, and enjoy the pictures. Best. Chris. 413-575-8600
