Description for Ford Torino 1968

Straight from the high-banked ovals of NASCAR, this 1968 Ford Torino GT was the fastback aero champ of the late-60s, at least until the arrival of the Mopar winged wonders. With a matching-numbers 390 cubic inch V8, an awesome color combination, and a very family-friendly interior, this should be your next muscle car.The fastback body style scales up from the Mustang pretty well, don't you think? Big, bold, and looking seriously fast, this code I Lime Gold Torino GT is all about street presence. The paint job was done a few years ago and certainly suits the fastback shape. There are a few flaws, of course, but none of them detract from the vintage NASCAR look that simply screams performance. Black stripes highlight the wonderfully aggressive quarter panels without being excessive, and it wears 390 badges with pride. Of course, the Torino was close to the top-of-the-line, so there's still enough chrome to make sure it gets the point across, and it appears that the bumpers are new and the rest of the trim has been freshened for a very clean look. Perhaps more importantly, the glass remains in good original condition, particularly the giant rear window, which is surely almost impossible to replace.Black bench seats with a 4-speed sticking out of the transmission tunnel make this car feel as sporty inside as it looks outside. The upholstery is in excellent condition, and even the driver's seat shows a minimum of wear. Correct carpets are in equally good shape and it's possible that the door panels are original, albeit in excellent condition. The dash has a racy look with four round pods for the gauges, but the Torino's upscale mission is reflected in the steering wheel, which has a woodgrained insert. Auxiliary gauges are stashed under the dash and even the original AM radio is still in the dash. The trunk opening is rather narrow, but once you're in there, trunk space is impressive under that fastback roof line and includes a correct mat, full-sized spare, and jack assembly. With 390 cubic inches pushing it around, this Torino has the moves to match its looks. This is the car's original, numbers-matching Z-code engine and it has been recently freshened with bright Ford Blue paint, chrome valve covers and air cleaner, and lots of upgrades like a new Holley carburetor, an upgraded cam, and a big aluminum radiator up front. It idles smoothly and pulls with mountainous torque, and if you want a big block you can drive every day, this is probably it. A new exhaust system gives it a deep, performance voice and the Toploader 4-speed manual transmission is durable enough to handle all that torque. The chassis isn't detailed, but it is quite clean and shows lots of new components, including the power steering system, so you know it doesn't have anything to hide. The door tag says there are 3.25 gears in the 9-inch rear, so it's an easy cruiser that's still punchy around town. Cool Magnum 500 wheels with 215/70/14 Goodyear Eagle radials give it the right low, sleek look.Documented with a Marti Report, this is an unusual Ford performance machine with a great pedigree.
