Description for Ford Mustang 1965
This car was recently re-published in the September, 2017 issue of MUSTANG MONTHLY Magazine but if you're as old as me you may remember Mustang Magic from its HOT ROD Magazine glory days in the late 70s. This one-of-a-kind 65 Mustang Fastback wide-body was a feature build owned and published by editor Bruce Caldwell in several magazines including 8 issues of Hot Rod from Dec 1978 to Jan 1980 with a cover shot on the Aug 1979 edition. The entire build was then consolidated into a 28-page article in the "first" edition of MUSTANG MAGAZINE in 1980. The car also graced the cover of Petersen Publishing's Shop Series book titled "Engine Swapping". If you have access to the #1 issue of Mustang Magazine, look it up. You'll be impressed with the work put into this year-long project including a 289 engine blue-printed at the Edelbrock factory in California. You'll also see this it not a kit car, it's all metal with the exception of the Shelby-style fiberglass hood. All the publications are great pieces of history but the real value comes from it's builder...the late great Eddie Paul. Eddie has an extensive legacy as an inventor, custom designer and Hollywood stuntman/movie-car builder including builds for movies like "E.T.", "Grease" and "Star Wars". Later he built the "xXx" GTOs as well as all the cars in "The Fast and The Furious" and "2Fast 2Furious". He also brought Lightning McQueen, Mater and Sally Carrera to life for PIXAR by creating full-sized versions. As you can imagine, Eddie's works are highly collectible. The 1949 Mercury "Hells Chariot" he built for "Grease" sold at auction for more than $180K!
Mustang Magic comes with tons of documentation and restoration pictures including a written appraisal from Eddie verifying the car's authenticity. I also asked Eddie to sign the car before he applied clear coat during his 2009 restoration. The car is located in Albuquerque, NM.
