Description for Ford Mustang 1965
If you are looking for an early example of the car that started a revolution, you just found one. They started production in March of '64, and this one was built in July. It's a desirable 289 automatic and is as solid and straight as you will find anywhere. It also happens to be gorgeous in its factory correct Caspian Blue Metallic. When the look of a car is so familiar, and when it's painted a unique... color like this, you need to be sure the body panels are straight and smooth, and the gaps are consistent. This car doesn't disappoint. The long hood and crisp fender lines catch the light and show off the look that launched the legend. The body and trim are completely stock. Looking at it directly from the front, the pencil thin bumper shines like new and underlines a black grill with delicate chrome lines outlining it and holding the iconic Pony in the center. The rest of the chrome and brightwork on the car appears to be factory original and is in great shape too. At the back or the car are those iconic triple lens taillights in their chrome bezels underlined by another sharp looking bumper, and finally, the black and chrome steel wheels with blue Pony centers are the perfect look for this car. Complimenting the Caspian Blue paint, is a Blue Crinkle vinyl interior that is also the correct interior as delivered from the factory. Open the door and you will find a two-tone looking effect to the door panel that is outlined in thin chrome piping. Have a seat in the comfortable front bucket with a pleated center section surrounded by smooth vinyl and reach out for the three spoke deep dish steering wheel with the Mustang center. The dash is neat and clean with chrome piping trimming everything out and looking sharp. This interior also has a special treat not found on many '65s (excuse me, '64 1/2s), Air Conditioning. This unit is mounted nicely with the trim in excellent condition. An AM/FM /Cassette player sits just above it for your listening pleasure and the T-handle shifter for the automatic transmission sits in the center console. A white headliner is a nice contrast to the blue interior and the carpets are protected by floormats with galloping Ponies on red, white and blue embossed into them. Pop the hood and you will find the engine everybody wants in a Mustang. The 289 V8. This car was delivered with a 289 although we can't be sure if it was this exact one. It is completely stock and is nestled down in a nicely detailed out engine bay. The gold air cleaner assembly sits on top of a 4-barrel carburetor with an electric choke. The valve covers are also painted gold and signs of good maintenance include belts and hoses as well as the tune up items that all appear to have been replaced recently. The A/C compressor appears to have been rebuilt recently and was updated to R134 in the process. The power of this 289 is sent back through a 3-speed automatic trans. The chassis components like the steering, brakes, and exhaust system received their share of love on this car too and are in great shape. Check out this super early production Mustang in its gorgeous Caspian Blue Metallic. It's a nice driving car that you may decide to go ahead and drive on home.
