Description for Ford Mustang 1968

selling for a friend. 1968 Ford mustang Coupe, special order Gold exterior paint, black standard interior, 289 C code 2 V engine, C4 automatic transmission, 2:79:1 open rear, power steering, power disc brakes, front and rear bumperettes, remote driver mirror, bucket seats, deluxe seat belts, heavy duty suspension, hub caps ( missing one ), am radio, removed black vinyl roof, and wide oval radial white sidewall tires. Marti report is in the pictures. All there.Needs complete restoration but is a good beginning to a fun car.
The worst rust is the entire roof. Came factory with a black vinyl top. Someone removed it and dumped a 1/2" of bondo on the roof. Yes a 1/2" !! I will include this with the sale so you can hang it on your garage wall drink beer and laugh at it.The roof has a ton of pin holes, the front of the skin peeled wide open when I towed it home. The bottoms of the windshield post are rusted through. Driver side gutter is hanging on. Somebody screwed the window trim back on.Good rad support, front frame rails, battery apron is trashed, passenger side shock tower and rear inner are good, firewall is good, toe board is good at top area, driver side front inner and shock tower is good, rear inner has the usual spot on top at the lap weld, torque boxes are good, front floors are bad, turn signal hood is ok with two small spots underneath by latch support, rear floor pans can be saved, rear floor hump is good, trunk transition is good and trunk floor, trunk drop offs are bad, inner wheel wells are good, outers need lower patches, some small holes in the lower quarters ( my guess is after its stripped you would patch some small holes, not a full lower patch ), tail light panel is good, trunk looks great until you open it and the usual pinch weld inner is bad, doors are solid, bottoms are nice, driver door has small bubbling at the front bottom corner, front valance is dented as well as bumper pushed up, headlight buckets are good, fenders are good ( even lowers behind wheel ), passenger fender front area around the maker light has pin holes, front and rear door jambs are good as well as rockers. Looks to be all original sheet metal but I will check dates again.
Glass is good except for windshield. It was replaced at some point. They put the dash back in over the dash VIN plate. They flattened it. I backed the dash off enough to verify the numbers and make sure it was there. I will put it back how its supposed to be.
Decent used interior thats all there minus carpet, Seats have some small rips and dash is drooping. Headliner is some how still up !
Engine is original and all there except the usual service stuff that is non ford ( coil, cap, wires, fuel pump, battery, starter ) Still has original radiator, water pump, etc. It runs off a borrowed battery, gas can and my own carb. Original carb is in the trunk in a box, taken apart. I will quick rebuild it so the car moves under its own power for transport.Still has choke riser.C4 auto shows good fluid and doesnt smell cooked. Rear is ok.Brakes are free and it rolled up trailer no problem. Surprised I didnt have to knock the front disc pads out or knock the rear drums off.All there and unmolested except for the aftermarket passenger mirror, front windshield, bad repaint and obvious vinyl roof abortion.Original paint is in the trunk and floor pan area. Looks to be a little lighter than the color on the car now. Kevin Marti said if I get a piece off in the original area he can figure out exact. I will leave that to the buyer as I am not restoring this car for my friend.Have clean California title, dash VIN, and the receipts for the car over the years. I did not see any VIN on the driver side inner fender. I scraped the paint down to bare metal. Paint layers went like this from top to bottom: satin black, repaint gold, grey primer ?, red oxide, bare metal. Inner fender does not look replaced at all. Factory spot welds are beautiful. I took a picture underneath and the factory seam sealer is still present. I will try not to pull the fender. I wire wheeled underneath to see if I can verify the stamping. I can't.I should be able to lot drive this soon. The trailer this is on could be bought separately. It is a 1999 Premier trailer, 18', rated at 10,000 lb, pinel hitch, tool box with battery, and a 4500 lb winch with remote, aluminum ramps that are not stored on the trailer. Has been redone with wiring, wheels, tires, painted and new wood floor. Pennsylvania title in my friends name. Includes 4 straps. No trades. Car is for sale locally as well so I reserve the right to end the auction. Will ship at buyers expense or could possibly deliver for extra money.
I can email more photos. Ebay only lets me put up 24. Car is also on Philadelphia Craigslist for contact
