Description for Ford Mustang 1965
With all the merely "pleasant" 1965 Mustang coupes around, it's nice to see one that walks with some swagger. Dig the stance, the black paint, the fuel-injected 289 V8 full of the good stuff, and the upgraded A/C interior that makes no apologies for looking so darn good. The only thing it doesn't have is a pack of Luckys rolled up in its shirt sleeve.Basic black always looks good, but on this car, it's really more of a disguise. A low-profile coupe with serious blasting powder under the hood doesn't really need to advertise. Since most guys will have low expectations of the simple Mustang, it's easy to take advantage of them. Of course, that doesn't mean the bodywork isn't straight, because it is, and it's obvious that considerable time and effort were invested in the look. It's not perfect, although it's really dialed-in with only minuscule imperfections to speak of, along with a wonderful shine that reflects out showroom lights beautifully. If you're going to paint it black you better know what you're doing and have a great car to start with, and this Pony obviously fits the bill because the sheetmetal is very impressive. It also carries a nice batch of chrome, including the bumpers, window trim, and the 'galloping pony in the scope' front grille, as well as correct badging on the front fenders that let everyone know what time it is. Out back, you get bright taillights to match the crystal-clear headlights, along with a trumpeted exhaust that looks perfect exiting through the lower valance.
Further significant investment happened inside, where the most obvious upgrade are those supportive Pony bucket seats. Black-and-white is an awesome color combination to complement the black livery and those correct buckets look pretty darned good inside the vintage Mustang's interior. Matching black door panels, carpets, and rear seat with matching Pony upholstery really dress up the simple little Mustang, making the cabin a very special place to spend some time in. Other smart upgrades include sporty and fat wood-rimmed steering wheel, under-dash A/C that's blowing cold, a control unit for the EFI system under the hood, and a RetroSound AM/FM/Bluetooth radio that feeds a set of speakers in the kick panels and on the package shelf. Factory GT-style gauges give you the ability to keep an eye on the burly 289 V8 up front and look good doing it with chrome rim accents that brighten things up just a little inside. Meanwhile, the trunk is spartan and clean, showing off signs of a newer gas tank along with solid pans that speak to the structural integrity of this slick Pony coupe.
Responsive and plenty powerful, the fuel-injected 289 V8 under the hood has a serious investment in performance between its black Ford Racing valve covers. This is an original C-code car, and the owner believes this 289 might actually be original to the car (as you may know, Ford did not stamp VINs on their blocks, so there's no such thing as a numbers-matching Mustang), and with a blacked-out Ford racing open-element air cleaner that matches the valve covers, it looks absolutely killer. There's now a FiTech fuel-injection set-up there to help build power, as well as a Magnaflow dual exhaust system with throaty-sounding mufflers that sound just right. A C4 3-speed automatic turns the original-style rear end and please note how clean the floors are – further proof that this Pony has live a long, easy life at the hands of conscientious owners. Uber-responsive power steering is always a welcome addition in a V8 Mustang, with this car also carrying power front disc brakes for added safety. And few wheels dress up a Mustang as well as the traditional Cragar SS chrome, which on this car wear grippy 215/60/15 front and 245/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A rubber.
Fast fun in a universally loved shell, all turn-key and ready to go. Treat it as a piece to show off and collect trophies or just take it out and tear up some pavement, either way it's hard to make a mistake with an awesome Mustang like this. Call today!
