Description for Ford Mustang 1968

Thank you for taking a moment to look at this project car for sale.

This vehicle sold in auction listing for $18K, but was cancelled for non-payment.

For sale with no reserve is a J code 1968 Mustang GT convertible 4-speed car with a 302-4v engine, 3.00 locking differential, a tilt steering column, and a working original tachometer. Overall there are tons of new parts on the car and ready to be installed.

The title is clear.

This car came into the shop as a project for a customer, who didn't realize that the gentleman that worked on it previously failed to weld repair panels in the cowl, firewall, floor, fender aprons, and door post; the panels are screwed, glued, riveted, etc. Some of these repairs are shown in the photos below. The quarter panels and rear wheel housings look original and rust-free. You may want to consider the cost of adequately repairing these parts of the car. For this reason, we made a deal to purchase the vehicle from the customer.

The exterior body and paint are in decent condition, with minor scratches and chips in the single stage paint. The door hinges are solid, and the doors open and close well. The convertible top upholstery is new, and the top operates. Most of the exterior lights are working. There is also a new vehicle-specific aftermarket wiring harness for the car that is uninstalled.

When the car was being worked on in the shop, we recovered the seats with replacement standard black upholstery. The under-dash AC system has yet to be installed, but the car does have the compressor, condenser, drier, and hoses installed.

We also momentarily ran the engine in a video on the listing. The engine leaked coolant and air through an improperly sealed intake manifold; it also had a loud exhaust leak. I am told that the engine's top end was rebuilt, but not the bottom end. I understand that the transmission and rear differential were rebuilt before coming to our shop.

The car has a completely rebuilt front suspension kit, commonly known as a "grab-a-track" kit, a rack and pinion conversion kit, and front disc brakes. I believe it has yet to be in an alignment shop. It looks like some of the brake lines need to be replaced.
