Description for Ford Mustang 1966

1966 MUSTANG **REAL** MUSTANG GT (289 cid 225hp V-8) CONVERTIBLE A CODE - GREAT LOOKING & GREAT DRIVING **Mileage when purchased in 2006 - 39. 72. Current mileage - 43. 85** **I have always stored this car in a heated and air conditioned garage** History and Details: This car's VIN is 6 F 08 A 743680 and its consecutive production date is 12 - August - 1966. In Search of Mustangs" Registry & Census. Volume 1. 1964 - 66. by Jim Smart and Jim Haskell. shows this car as one of the very last 1966 mustangs to roll of the line and. the second to the last A code GT convertible to be made in 1966 (pages 233 and 265). Smart and Haskell's data also includes a section of information from the Dearborn plant that included the names of the original registered owners of the cars. My car is listed with a matching consecutive production number (743680) and date (12 V) appears in this data. however. there appears to be a error in the body style code as it lists this car on page #233 as 6F 07 A 743680 (an 07 body style rather than the correct 08). The listed original owner of my car is Larry Hurst of New York. The previous owner of this mustang was from Plantation. FL where I bought it in 2006. Before purchasing the car I had it thoroughly checked out by a qualified professional (specializing in older cars) from the local Ford dealer prior to purchasing the car. Their report showed the car to be in excellent condition and correctly represented as an original 66 Mustang GT. When I bought the car it was the correct Candy Apple in color and I had it professionally repainted in 2012. At that time I had the car re-striped in white in the Shelby style. I had a Shelby hood done to match but saved the original hood. I replaced the driver's side door as well with a Scott Drake but also saved the original door. This car is an original GT with air conditioning. factory convenience group (day/night mirror and intermittent wipers). the correct AM/8 track radio. etc. It has all of the correct factory GT options that are associated with this model. The car has had the original pony interior replaced and it and the electric top are in very good condition. The original console remains in place unrestored and the car currently has a set of Craiger SS mags with spinners on it. The fog lights work well. The engine is the correct 289 A code and has electronic ignition. It is nicely detailed as can be seen in the photos. It even has the original windshield washer bag. The car had had the original 4-speed transmission replaced with a 5-speed when I purchased it. This transmission works beautifully and makes the car go down the highway like a dream. In general. this car. while not a trailer queen. is a very nice example and. because it's a southern car. lacks the usual rust problems usually found with its piers.
