Description for Ford Fairlane 1966

I'm selling my running and driving. semi-project dream car. It's a very clean. very solid rust free South/Central florida car with 48K showing on the odometer. Original 289 auto. still in place and runs and drives beautifully. I looked many years for what I deemed the perfect car and finally found it in this one! A rust free. solid Florida survivor w low miles. My parents had a Fairlane 500XL convertible car when i was growing up in Central PA. and I always wanted one. But now I have to sell for financial reasons. Here's the GOOD! The undercarriage and floors are solid. MINT with no rust or ever had rust. original sheet-metal and has the original sound deadener in place. Power top works flawlessly. Paperwork w/ original owner maintenance records and original keys and key fob from new. Very nice stainless and brightwork. excellent original glass all around. Very nice original front bumper w/ nice chrome. Doors close effortlessly. This car sat motionless and garaged for many. many years (25+) and over the past 7 months its been treated to a semi-resto/refurbishment. Its been revived w a new fuel tank. fuel lines. sending unit. new aluminum intake and New 4 bbl carb w electric choke. . new HEI distibutor. (original parts were completely gummed up w old fuel) New battery. New rear brakes. wheel cylinders. drums. hardware. new master cylinder. Interior has been completely preserved and restored including new carpet. sill plates. new glove box insert. etc. Still retains original door panels. dash pad and upholstery and they look incredible. Original console. shifter. lens. etc. Original kick panels. and other interior components have been retained and refurbished professionally. the pics tell the story. Car color was originally Palamino Bronze w/ palamino and parchment interior. White convert top. Top is nice. no rips or tears. Interior is same as originally but the original owner's son-in-law painted the exterior car red many years ago. Its a very old paint job but not too bad looking. Very driver quality. on a very rust free body. It's in need of a good block sanding and some dings filled. I HAVE Lots of new stuff to go with the car. trunk and door weatherstripping. gaskets. light bezels. and misc. new parts. but car is down to just needing a paint job and that stuff i was gonna install after the paint. All in all its a great survivor quality car that's a very easy finisher. No rust. no welding in sheetmetal. no convertible top expenses. No holes in floors. no glass to buy. no stainless to find. No down deep dirty work involved. A beautiful interior that looks showroom new. Its starts right up. shifts great and stops as well as it did in 1966. The Bad. It still needs a few cosmetic things like a new steering wheel chrome horn ring. 289 emblems. front XL grille emblem and some other stuff you can ask me about. And most is available here on ebay. It needs a new rear bumper because the chrome is very faded out. (I would estimate about $1200-1500 worth of stuff)Also could use a new back plastic window. its a zipper in type. it looks hazy. And a new dual exhaust was also on my wish list. it still retains the factory style single with the transverse muffler in front of the rear axle. Also! the original carb. intake and air cleaner go with the car. The original am/fm radio is in the trunk. as well as any other stuff I have. Feel free to call me to discuss. i'm sure there are things i missed. I will keep updating the description as i remember things! Thanks for looking. Tom 407 402-0234
