Description for GMC Other 1986

1986 GMC/Chevy 4x4 Short Box. 1991 Suburban front grille. bucket seats. and console. 1998 5. 7 liter Vortec and 4l60E transmission with approximately 50. 00 miles on them. I installed the engine using a adapter wiring harness from Speed Scene Wiring. All connections soldered - not a hack job. Looks like a factory install and zero problems. This was driven daily on and off in Washington D. C. area traffic. A/C works. cruise works. has the Vortec Serpentine belt and all accessories. Original NP208 transfer case with V. S. S. in trans adapter. Dana 60 front axle with open differential and 4:56 gears. I bought this Dana 60 off of Ebay from a NYC Fire Fighter. He got it from a warehouse that New York City was cleaning out. The axle was new in the crate from GM with GM bar code tags still on it. He didn't know what he had so he took it to the dealer and ran the part # and it came back as a "1991 K3500 front axle assembly" it was purchased by FDNY as a spare for on of their '91 dually trucks. I put brand new SRW hubs on it and installed a new 4:56 Yukon ring and pinion. The 4:10 ring and pinion that it came with still had the marking compound on them. It was complete in the crate with the tie rods. spindles and brakes. I put some used Warn hubs on it. Corporate 14 bolt full floater rear axle completely rebuilt with new 4:56 Yukon gears. bearing and seals. new Eaton Posi. and converted to disc brakes. Tuff Country EZ Ride 4" lift kit. Stainless braided brake hoses. ORD Swaybar disconnect. with greaseable sway bar bushings. Dual Fuel Tanks- Fuel gauge works. but not really accurate. 33x12. 50 BF Goodrich All Terrain Tires with 80% tread. Older 8 ft Meyer plow with hydraulic lift and angle. Joystick control. Black tool box and rubber bead mat. I bought the truck completely stock as a half ton with a 305 carb engine in it. It was purchased in North Carolina and was used for surf fishing. I started building the truck to be a daily driver that was capable of off roading. I got a transfer to the D. C. Metro area. so i changed it to be a daily driver instead. The engine swap was done in 2002 the 1 ton axles were done in spring of 2004. After I got out of the service I took a job in Minnesota where I was supplied with a company vehicle. so this truck mostly sat around. I put the plow on it in 2010 and it was used to plow our drive way. Not used for commercial plowing and rarely driven down the road in winter to avoid salt. I did notice about a 1 inch crack in the frame behind the steering box which is a very common weak spot on these trucks. I repaired the crack by drilling holes at the ends of the crack. grinding a v in the crack and welding it up. I ground it off smooth and installed an Off Road Design weld on brace kit to make it better than new. The truck does have some typical Chevy rust on the rocker panels. door bottoms. cab corners. and lower box sides and inside bottom of tailgate. The truck was equipped with racks in the bed and on the front bumper for surf fishing rods and the previous owner used to run it on the beach alot which is where it saw most of it's salt. When I bought the truck in 2002 the windshield gasket was leaking and the carpet was wet on the drivers side. There is a small rust hole on the edge of the floor due to the wet carpet. The inner rockers. and cab supports look like new. This would be a very easy fix if your a body guy. or hack the fenders off. put on a set of 38"s and a locker in the front axle and you have a very capable off road rig. This makes a very nice plow truck with the tight turning radius of the short wheel base. Starts great in the winter and has a block heater installed. Battery is less than a year old. The truck will also come with 2 extra wheel matching the ones on the truck. One is in the bed and has a spare tire mounted and ready to go. Selling because I bought a second truck with a better plow on it and I have no desire to paint this truck and have it just sitting around. I would drive this truck across country tomorrow. I do have a set of rust free doors off of a 1991 Suburban with power mirrors. power windows. power locks. tinted glass and the nice gray interior panels as well. Also an extra hood and rust free front fender liners and front fenders. I was going to use these if I restored the truck. They will be available to the winning bidder at extra cost.
