This beautiful truck came into our possession via a local collector whom was looking to scale down his gracious collection. We mention this because it provides an excellent back story as to why anyone would part with such a gem. The GMC was carefully disassembled repaired and restored to near perfection quite sometime ago as he was able to set aside the time to tackle the project. The truck was not in any way a rough vehicle, it was very much a vehicle worth taking the time to bring it that extra step towards nirvana. We have pictures that show the progress. Anyways, when you are a meticulous, attention to detail, driven, and knowledgeable individual you can see by looking at this truck that it was restored with a keen eye to detail. Note the bed recess mounted Fire Extinguisher and the ever iconic Side Carrier Mounted Spare Tire. The Ever Faithfull and Reliable Straight Six Engine Seems Like it Will Run Forever as GM hit a Homerun with it's Flawless Design and Efficiency. The Wood Laden Bed of this truck is obviously treated like a High Quality Imported Silk Shirt and has not been used for hauling landscaping gravel from the local home center. This Truck is in exceptional shape Runs Exceptionally well Looks Great and Belongs in the Deserving Hands of a Great New Owner whom will cherish it for many years to come. The 1959 GMC line of pickup trucks, models 100 to 500, came in 29 variations and sub-models. The sturdy, durable trucks were a favorite of farmers and ranchers. They were closely related to Chevrolet's series of pickups. EnginesThe standard engines for 1959 GMC trucks were the in-line six-cylinder 270, 302 or the 347 cubic-inch V-8. The cylinder block and upper crankcase were cast as one-piece. The type 270 motor produced 130 to 140 horsepower at 3,400 rpm with a compression ratio of 7.75-to-1. The type 302 had a 4-inch bore and stroke and generated 160 horsepower. ChassisThe 1959 GMC trucks' suspension consisted of semi-elliptic front and rear springs. The last year of the Task Force design for Chevrolet trucks was 1959. The 1/3 ton light pickups for 1959 were designated as Apaches. Styling for the trucks, especially the heavily chromed front ends, was highly influenced by GM's line of passenger cars. | | | VEHICLE OPTIONS | Option List:Fire Extinguisher, Full-Size Spare Tire, Spare Tire | | | Terms and Conditions | Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time.
