Description for GMC 3100 1955
The recipe for success is easy: take one handsome 1955 GMC 3100 Big Window pickup, drench it in vivid red paint, give it a few light custom touches, then give it a comfortable and tasteful interior, and finally power it with a potent small block V8. The results on this one speak for themselves, making this pickup a ready-made piece of full-sized fun, built to a very high standard. The red paint on this truck is incredibly... rich and deep, with a reflection that all great painters strive for in their work. There's some custom pinstriping throughout and a little art on the tailgate, also done to a high level. Totally traditional, red is the perfect color for the stylish GMC hauler, which blends a bit of style with a ruggedness that defined GM trucks for a generation. Close examination will reveal great gaps and smooth body lines, all evidence that this truck was clean before the work started and that the guys in charge took their time. Crisp details like the frenched taillights imbedded into the rear fenders and the smoothed roll-pan move beyond mere function, creating a truck that was as beautiful when it was empty as when it was hauling a heavy load. The forward-canted cab suggests power and speed, which this truck delivers, and the stepside bed gives it a muscular stance. Beautiful oak planks in the bed warm everything up but if you're planning on hauling anything, bring something to protect it because it's just too pretty to beat up. The tan leather interior is just as neatly finished as the bodywork. They ditched the original bench seat and replaced it with power buckets and a center console. Thick matching red carpets with tan piping help control noise and heat in the cab and replace the original rubber mats, helping to further the luxury truck image. The gauges are tasteful pieces from VDO that fit neatly in the custom instrument panel and offer a much more comprehensive view for the driver. There's also a Clarion AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo head unit that powers booming speakers behind the seats, and an underdash A/C unit to keep everyone in the cab feeling as cool as they look. Door panels and headliner are finished beautifully to match, making this a truck you could drive or show every day if you were so inclined. The 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood is a stout one, adorned with polished valve covers, a polished Edelbrock carburetor and chrome Weiand intake manifold, and HEI ignition system. The engine bay itself was made to show off with its finished inner fenders and smoothed firewall, all dripping with the same deep paint that covers the body of the truck. Almost all components in the engine bay are either dipped in chrome or steel-braided, a combination that makes you want to pop the hood and flex every time you stop. Block-hugging shorty headers funnel the exhaust into a Flowmaster dual exhaust system with dual side exits, and yes, that's a Camaro subframe with power front discs and power steering. In fact, while you're looking at the undercarriage, imagine how nice it would be to slide mirrors underneath this truck at a car show. That's how dialed-in it is under there. Stylish chrome wire wheels are a nice break from the norm and wear fat Cooper radials that fill the big wheel wells perfectly. Beautifully built and lots of fun to drive, this pickup is ready to enjoy without worries. Drive or show, either way you'll be a winner. Call today!
