Description for Honda Accord 1979

1979 HONDA ACCORD CVCC. 4-door sedan. Excellent shape. low mileage. garage kept. Clean title. runs well. 1st-generation vintage Honda: Rarely seen nowadays. especially in this condition. Dozens of photos below. I am offering my privately-owned 1979 Honda Accord for sale. This car has been in my family since it was purchased brand-new at a Honda dealership. The car was infrequently driven and has only 80. 96 miles. From 1979-2014 it was stored in a garage (under a car cover for the past 3 months). This car was regularly maintained; I have all the original documents and much of the maintenance history. The car's paint is original and most of the car is in very well-kept. timeless condition. This is an attractive. highly collectible vintage car. More details below. History: This is a first-generation Honda automobile (click here or click here for more info) using Honda's innovative CVCC technology. The 1979 Honda Accord was the first Honda vehicle to be offered as a sedan. The Honda Civic was a much higher seller than the more-luxurious Accord. which means there are fewer first-generation Accords than Civics left. First-generation Hondas span 1976-1981 and are an important part of automotive history. being among the most successful examples of compact cars with groundbreaking fuel economy and emissions standards. Hondas remain among the most popular. reliable. top-performing consumer vehicles today. Features: The 1979 Honda Accord sedan -- the first sedan produced by Honda -- had more options than the previous years' coupe/hatchback versions. For example. it has a 1. 8-liter engine (instead of 1. 6-liter). an air-conditioning system. more seating room. and higher horsepower (72 hpw) from its 4-cylinder engine while retaining high fuel economy. This Honda Accord sedan has a semi-automatic ("Hondamatic") transmission. Condition: This 1979 Honda Accord is in excellent condition. especially for its age. Naturally there are some flaws but they are minor-level flaws in my opinion. For example. the front bumper is dented from somebody backing into it while it was in a parking lot. I will list various elements of the car's condition below. and will try to be as complete as possible. Be sure also to carefully look over the photos below. Engine: Full operating condition -- the car can be test-driven. and driven away safely after purchase. Obviously if you buy this car you will want to know how to maintain the engine. or have access to a qualified mechanic who does. But the car currently drives safely and smoothly. My family members who owned the car kept meticulous records of maintenance and this history will be provided to the purchaser of the car. Paint: This is the original paint. a reddish burgundy that really stands out under different types of lighting. The paint still looks terrific in my opinion. though I did notice one or two very tiny spots where the paint had a small crack or chip. Those can probably be buffed out with standard paint care. and they are nearly invisible to the naked eye unless you are really looking hard (I noticed while waxing the car). Because the car was rarely driven. it was stored in a house garage. and its exterior was well-maintained. the sun and elements have not had much chance to damage the paint. even after 35 years. Exterior body. chassis. etc. : The car has a clean title and has not been in any accidents. There is one exception. though. which is that somebody backed into the front bumper in a parking lot. The front bumper has a dent that you can see in the photos. (I have obtained a new front bumper. which will be included in the sale of this car. )Exterior trim/molding: The black rubbery trim along the sides of car is aged but intact. Some of the plastic seal that covers the chrome trim on the sides is starting to peel a little. On the back right corner. near the trunk. there is a small piece of chrome molding that is missing. I have identified the part number and am actively trying to track down this piece (I am close to obtaining one. and it will be included with this sale at no extra cost). Also. two of the plastic logo/insignia trim pieces (one that says "Honda" and one that says "CVCC") have fallen off. but they are safely retained in a plastic bag and will be included in this sale. so the buyer can put them back on the way he or she likes. Interior: The interior is in terrific condition. The doors. handles. window cranks. siding. dashboard. etc. are all in attractive and functional shape. I took several photos that show the interior -- see below. Upholstery: The ceiling fabric is practically like-new. The seat fabric and padding are in really attractive condition. Important note: The left-front driver's seat needed work. so it has been completely reupholstered. and the color match -- while very close -- is slightly different. (To me. it looks great. ) Some of the carpeting was replaced. The original Honda-logo floor pads are intact and look cool. and I have obtained additional floor pads to protect the carpet. Air-conditioning: The car has air-conditioning but it needs to be serviced. The heat and ventilation (fan) work fine. Radio: This appears to be an after-market radio (Pioneer) with cassette player. I am pretty sure it is functional. I think the casette works too. but I haven't tested it. I might update this later. Doors. handles. trunk. hood. windshield wipers. etc. : They all work properly. The trunk has the original jack and equipment. as well as a spare tire. Tires: They are relatively new with unworn treads. The wheels are original and have the Honda insignia. The car's suspension. alignment. etc. are all in working order. Other accessories. paperwork. etc. : I have a packet of original owner's manuals. dealership documents. extra keys. and other stuff that is very cool (in my opinion). IMPORTANT NOTE: I have listed the condition to the best of my ability. I will be glad to answer other questions about condition. I want whoever considers buying this car to have the most complete and accurate information possible to aid in making a decision. Shipping and payment: This is a pick-up only purchase. The buyer will have to come to my location to get the car. I will not accept un-cleared checks or other payment options that are not foolproof. A good-faith down payment of $500 is required within 48 hours of purchasing the car. in order to discourage buyers who are not serious. The car is currently registered and insured. but there still will probably be some hoops to jump through to get the title properly transferred to the buyer. I will be happy to communicate. answer questions. and help iron out all the details necessary to make this transaction happen smoothly. Thank you for reading all of this. And now. the photos:
