Description for International Harvester Scout 1961

This 1961 International Harvester Scout is a 1 off custom resto-mod. The truck drives well, tracks straight, and stops properly. The truck has undergone a thorough frame off restoration 7 years ago, and was built using quality parts and craftsmanship.The original 1961 fully boxed frame has been modified to include new Crossmembers for the Engine and Transmission, an IFS Suspension, it has been ‘C’ notched over the rear axle, then it was all repainted and a 1966 tub was mounted back on it using New Polyurethane Body Bushings.The windshield, door glass, regulators, wing window assemblies, latches. etc., were all removed prior to the body and paint work. The truck is completely rust free, but the paint shows signs of bubbling in a few areas. The truck comes with a clear Texas title, and has been driven over 6,900 miles since the odometer was reset during restoration. True mileage of the frame is unknown.

• Manual Rack and Pinion Steering – could use revised linkage geometry to lessen stiffness on turn in, but drives okay as-is

• Ford 8″ Rear End with new, Wrapped, leaf Springs running Highway gears

• New Monroe Sensa-Trac Shocks all around

• Professionally Rewired with Heavy duty relays and Modern, Blade type Fuse panels

• New plastic Glove Box Insert with access thru two Port Holes in dash for Fuse Block and Storage

• Auto Meter Ultralight Carbon Fiber Gauges Mounted in Polished Aluminum with Countersunk Stainless Steel Hardware, including 2-5/8″ Fuel level, Oil pressure, Water Temperature, Voltmeter, 5″ Tachometer, and a 5″ Electronic Speedometer that can be recalibrated quickly to accommodate a Tire size or Rear end Gear Change

We sell vehicles for our customers. We clean, photograph, and listthe vehicle. We consistently sell below retail value, which is not possible at a traditional dealer! We then collect a flat fee from the seller of the vehicle for our services. You get a better deal than at a normal dealer, and the seller gets a better deal than trade-in. Consignment is a win-win!

DO THESE CARS HAVE A WARRANTY?

Used vehicle warranties are available from a trusted 3rd party provider. Unfortunately, due to the age and nature of our business, we do not accept returns. For greater piece of mind, we recommend having the vehicle inspected at a trusted mechanic. If you do not have a mechanic nearby, there are a number of local and mobile companies that provide comprehensive vehicle inspections in Houston like Lemonsquad.com. If you are mechanically competent, we are happy to lift the car and let you investigate. If we find problems, we’ll work with the seller to fix them ordisclose them beforeputting the vehicle up for sale.

DO YOU SELL PROBLEM VEHICLES?

Unlike many Houston dealerships,we do not touch cars with a salvage or rebuilt title.

HOW CAN I BUY FROM OUT OF STATE?

Texas cars are often desirable for people in other regions because of the better overall condition of the vehicle (less rust, higher % of highway miles). We can meet buyers at either Houston airport (IAH or HOU) or arrange shipment for out of state buyers.
