Description for International Harvester Scout 1974
For Sale: Custom Built over five + years. 1974 International Harvester Scout II 4wd. Purchased in 2007 with a perfect frame and rare no rust body for $13. 00 on a post Barrett-Jackson listing. Link to original Barrett-Jackson listing available upon request. Originally sold and kept by first owner in Arizona then moved to Colorado. Over $50. 00 in documented receipts invested in a frame-off components rebuild (body and paint left as bought. ) Currently has a good. non-show quality paint job w/some light surface rust. as truck was intended for both daily use and off-roading. yet rarely driven due to funding issues during the course of its build. Have moved out of state. wife has put the hammer down and it needs to be sold. I am taking an absolute bath on this one. If your a mechanic or flip vintage trucks this is your lucky day. At a bare minimum this truck could be parted out for well over $15k. While a good running truck very close to a complete and final build -- some things still need tweaking. There was an electrical short. that appeared to have been fixed but when I last checked the battery was dead again. The driver's side door needs a retention spring. the roll cage blocks the window rollers and glove compartment etc. Vehicle has been stored and kept in a Colorado warehouse. Runs perfect w/strong idle when engine is warm. but will idle rough like most older trucks at the start. Maintains good oil & water temps when driving. but will gain heat on tough climbs. Steering and suspension are very stable at highway speeds (have a video I can send driving with two fingers on the wheel at 75mph on a straight highway. ) Super low granny gear for rock crawling w/ front and rear ARB lockers and on-board air for deflating tires. Averages approx. 16mpg. Radio/speaker system not installed. Custom dash inlay and Auto Meter gauges. A new replacement Auto Meter Speedometer is under warranty at High Country Performance 4x4 in Denver (previous speedometer's needle popped off. ) Sorry for the limited amount of photos. Will be trying to get more up later. but no guarantees as I am out of state. Additional Details: Under 3k miles on a new 383 Stroker - GM Performance Crate Engine! - 410hp (retails at approx. $10k. ) Art Carr 700R4 Street Max Transmission 4 Speed 2. 0 Atlas Transfer Case New Advanced Adapters. Rock Sliders. Front & Rear Bumpers PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is being sold "as is" and is priced to sell. You buy it. you own it. no returns. Vehicle will need a jumpstart and potential new battery as it has sat for a few months. There may still be a low electric short draining the battery as battery was dead on recent inspection. (Buyer beware: you may need to get this thing running!) During prior storage fuel stabilizer was put in and engine was turned over every few weeks. As listed in previous condition description - Used Vintage Body. Clean panels with surface rust and pocketing at corners of quarter panels. A few minor small dents. Mechanic inspected straight frame - no accidents etc. Custom full roll cage does block the window rollers (ie. door has to be open to roll down window) and part of the glove compartment. Roll cage can easily be removed or modified. Front driver's side door needs a new retention spring to keep it from closing back on inclines. Rear door and tailgate are stiff but in good working condition as is front hood. This car has NOT been beaten up off-road but because of build time delays and funding issues over the course of the build. The truck in it's current state has seen only five outings total on moderate Colorado trails. This is a fully built beast that is ready for trail and around town use. with plenty of life in the shocks. transmission etc. If you live in the Denver area or are willing to fly there you can do a pre-inspection before bidding. Email for details and to make an appointment. Buyer responsible for pick up and shipping costs. DISCLAIMER: Buyer understands that though this vehicle has tens of thousands of dollars in new components installed. they are still purchasing a forty year old car and things can go wrong.
