Description for Jaguar XJ6 1977
1977 Jaguar XJ6CThe XJC was the last Jaguar model that Sir Williams Lyons was personally involved in thedevelopmentof.Due to thelengthy design gestation of a way to obtain proper sealingof thenew frame-lessdoor glass, he XJC production run was limited to just three years (1975-77).By the time thewindowsealing problem was solved the XJS coupe had been scheduled forintroduction andthe XJsedanserieswasstandardized on the new 4 inch longer wheelbase.I am a retired Jaguar sales representative and obtained this car 20 years ago when it was tradedinon a new Jaguarby the original ownerat my dealership, auer Motors, n Anaheim California. My first expenditure was to install a ASC Moonroof, nbsp;I then had a complete back to baremetal color change respray donefrom the original Greensand to a two-stage Black.Black was never offeredby the factory as an original color on the Series 2 Jaguarsand I had always loved the rich and dressy look of a Black on Black car... andas muchas I prefer to retain originality, just could not see spending money it redo the "DijonMustard" Greensandpaintscheme. The interior was completely redone in full leather seats, utilizing new foam cushions, iaphragms and door panels, ilton wool carpeting, url Walnutfacia panel and switch trim plus a new custom headliner. Next I handed the car over to aformer dealercolleagueandJaguar factory trainedMaster technician to have thecar gone completely over mechanically to the tune of $10,000+. Lastly I installed 5 newDayton16" chrome wire wheels and Pirelli tires. Other personal touches include Euro 7"main beam halogen headlights, he front windscreen surround was replaced with new SeriesIXJ6trim to eliminate the three unsightly upper retainers required on U.S. spec cars of theperiod.XJ12Cchromebelt-line trim was added to complementthe chrome wires wheels.I alsosourced a pairof homemarket HS8 2" S.U. carburetors with a manuallycontrolledAED deviceto replace the Zenith Strombergs. Both fuel tanks were removed,powder-coated,then epoxy lined and new submerged fuel pumps & level senders installed. The A/C systemhoses, condenserand compressorhave been removed and the system is intheprocessof beingconverted to R134 refrigerant. Now after nearly 20 years the paint is beginning to show it's age with some deterioration oftheclear coat on the top surfaces and a couple of rust spots on the left side. Even though the carhas never been out of southern California, here are drain holes on these cars that when cloggedcanprevent waterfrom draining from regular washings. The belt-line chrome molding allowsforan easy break soseparate panels couldbe repainted withoutnecessitatinga complete respray...CERTAIN ITEMS IN SHOWN IN SOME PHOTOS SUCH AS THE WOOD STEERING WHEEL AND GRILL BADGES AREPERSONAL AND WILL NOT BE INCLUDED...
