Description for Jeep Wagoneer 1989
Note to Bidders: We've relisted this vintage SUV after the winning bidder wasn't able to complete their purchase obligation. Please folks, be sure you have all your funds lined up BEFORE placing bids! Very few banks will loanagainst the title of a 28-year-old vehicle, no matter how collectable or nicely restored. OK, enough rant! Here is the description again as I presented it last week:
1989
Jeep 4x4
Grand Wagoneer
VIN: 1J4GS5872KP101231
I’m often asked where we find these clean, unique vehicles. One of my best friends cruises parking lots of retirement homes, Elks clubs, our V.F.W. Hall and the small town streets of areasnear Seattle. He can spot a seatbelt slammed in a door a mile away… He’ll notice when a nice old car or truck is driving with a turn signal left on just a little too long and he positively twitches with glee when a metal bumpered vehicle passes by! If you’re in the market for clean vintage SUV, please give this nice Grand Wagoneer your kind attention. Feel free to contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay auction listing. My name is Mark and you can reach me directly by phone or text at 206/914-1173.
CONDITION:
The photos really tell the Jeep’s story. It has spent most of it’s life here in the Great Pacific Northwest driving our salt-free western Oregon roads. From the photos, you’ll see the rig has obviously been well cared for over the years. We’ve found absolutely NO evidence of any accidents, storm damage, insurance salvage, theft recovery, repossession or any other nasty negatives to cause you concern as the next caretaker!
I take pride in our vehicles and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly, here’s a list of the good and any small things possibly needing attention: The four-wheel drive system works just as it should. With a flip of a switch the drive train goes to full 4x4 mode when needed, so most of the time you’re able to remain in 2WD, not wearing out the strong Dana front axle components during summertime highway use. The overall exterior is in very good condition. No fading or peeling on any of the faux woodgrain vinyl or moldings. The rig wears midnight black paint and has had one good quality re-spray. There are no rock chips or dents. Rust? Well, this classic Jeep HATES rust and you’d be hard pressed to find ANYTHING here to worry about! Because we rarely get snow west of the Cascades in both Washington and Oregon, our winter roads are never salted. Climb over, under and throughout - I know you’ll come up smiling!
One turn of the key and the strong 360 CID V8 fires right up with just a few pumps of the gas pedal. There’s a proper, throaty rumble by the exhaust. The three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly, just like it should. Of course, there’s a tilt steering column, power steering, brakes and windows (all work but can be a bit slow). I believe every Grand Wagoneer came with power front disk brakes in 1989 and these stop just fine with no pulling or binding. All four stock alloy wheels are wrapped with good tires each with at least 30-40% remaining tread. It really is fun to drive anywhere you’d wish to go and you’re guaranteed to get a “thumbs up” every time!
Please take another look at the interior shots. The upholstery is new on the both front buckets. Headliners are almost always an issue on these rigs. You’ll be very impressed by the new custom-installed one here - NO sagging or warped liner board ever again! Fresh factory-style carpet has been added front and back. All the glass is great including the windshield. About the only negatives we’ve encountered are the electric mirrors don’t respond (they are manually adjustable) and neither does the stock am-fm radio. As my photo shows, the speedometer sits at 20mph when standing still and some of the other gauges also give inaccurate readings. I doubt the odometer is showing true miles. Though the system appears complete, some attention will be needed to make the A/C functional (we’re not sure what that will entail). A cover’s been installed to keep additional cracks from developing in the dashtop vinyl and to hide those already there. That’s about it! If you’re thinking of bidding on a comparable Chevy Suburban or Ford Bronco of similar vintage, you really owe it to yourself to drive and look this Grand Wagoneer over first!
PLEASE BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a classic from a respected Ebay seller. I want you to be happy with your purchase (and with me) and that’s the main goal! Please don’t be upset by a missed flaw or some unforeseen problem! No vintage used car or truck is ever perfect. Having said this, I would not hesitate to drive this SUV long distance immediately.
Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, we require that Ebay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions call, text or email before placing a bid. If I don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. As I’ve outlined above, the phone number to talk directly to me is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is MARK. You’re welcome and encouraged to come by my Auburn, WA warehouse to inspect & drive the Grand Wagoneer. You might also make an offer as many of my vehicles sell to smart “early birds” that contact me and work out a deal prior to the auction’s end. I always reserve the right to sell during this period.
A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:
A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s conclusion. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept bank cards, but I’ll first need to send an invoice and would ask that you cover the 3% fee our processor charges. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the Jeep later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.
If you decide to have theGrand Wagoneer transported, there are scores of companies to choose from. I ship vehicles regularly and suggest that you get a transport bid from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS). They're EBay’s preferred carrier and will give you a fair quote. Call them directly at (888) 817-6203. Give the sales rep my affiliate number (2362642) and they can pull up all our information for station-to-station or even door-to-door quotes.
