PLEASE BE SURE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE OTHER EXAMPLE THAT IS LISTED ON EBAY AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CALL US IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO FIND DETAILS ON THE OTHER "7." THANK YOU! HISTORY OF THIS PARTICULAR CAR This Seven was constructed by the highly respected Sevens & Elans on the East Coast and delivered as a professionally built Super Seven to its long term, irst owner. Sevens and Elans have been specializing in Super Sevens for years and under the direction of the owner, hristopher Tchorznikcu, roduce a very high quality product. Over the years, e have seen a number of poorly built "7's" and can attest to the fact that there is a difference in the quality of Super Sevens. The Super Seven was delivered as a fully "turn-key" example including the higher horsepower Super Sprint 135 bhp engine and has the benefit of being a "long cockpit" version with separate leather bucket seats that are adjustable (unlike the bench seating found on earlier, ore basic Super Sevens). It is also a "De Dion" car having the benefit of an independent rear suspension for improved drivability / handling. Finally, he "7" is fitted with a number of options befitting a Super Seven and add to the performance, rivability and appearance of the car, ncluding: - Fully syncromesh 5-speed gearbox for improved low end and highway driving - Carbon Fiber Dashboard - Quick release Momo suede steering wheel - Scroth 4-point FIA homologated seat belts - Push button starter - Period style 8 spoke lightweight Miniator alloy wheels (Replaced from the stock wheels) - Avon tires - Adjustable leather seats to accommodate tall driver's - Carpeted floors & tunnel - All trim blacked out / powder coated (Including Windscreen surround, eadlights,) - a great appearance. - H4 halogen headlights - Carbon fibre side view mirrors - Full weather gear (Side curtains & top) - Black factory rollbar (Optional FIA rollbar & support members included) - Front grill finished in black - Twin Weber DCOE 40 carburetion - Significantly improved Piper foam air cleaner for better performance and wonderful carburetor sound! The documentation on the "7" is extensive as we have seen and provides a superb history on the car dating back to its original delivery of the car. Additionally, ithin the past few years the car has received a complete freshening / restoration to bring it up to the high standards of the previous owner. This included a complete exterior re-paint and aluminum "skin" polish. The car rates very high with excellent paint, ot damage to the fiberglass components and beautiful powder coated trim. The documentation that accompanies the car is extremely detailed and summarized later in this description of the Super Seven. The 7 is fully street licensed and legal for road use carrying a clear title as a 1967 Lotus. The state officials accepted the car as a Lotus Super Seven as a result of its appearance and titled the vehicle accordingly. The Super Seven is fitted with 100% of the required street equipment including: full windshield & wipers, egal lights, urn signals, orn and safety equipment (4-point seat belts). The "7" remains in "like new condition and free from cosmetic imperfections that we see on so many Super Sevens that are "driven hard and put away wet." The car has virtually no flaws that detract from its appearance either inside or out. We recently drove the car on a long trip and not only received compliments everywhere we went but thoroughly enjoyed the drive in one of the few remaining pure sports cars. DETAILS-THIS PARTICULAR CATERHAM SUPER SEVEN There is little dispute amongst Lotus Super 7 enthusiasts that the Caterham rates as the premier "7" in the market. Actually, n 1973, olin Chapman handed the rights over to Caterham & Graham Nearn a Lotus distributor and enthusiast. Nearn had the good sense to drop what most consider the unattractive Series IV fiberglass Seven and return to the popular Series III. Caterham has been building the car ever since and with the exception of some improvements and upgrades to performance and safety. However, ith the advent of this "7", he De Dion, ong cockpit car, hings changed. This Super Seven no longer has the more basic upholstered backrest and floor cushions but adjustable, ndividual seats trimmed in black leather. The driver's compartment has been lengthened by 2.5" so that driver's taller than 6 feet can operate the pedals without polishing the steering wheel with their knees. The addition of the thick, 0" Momo quick release suede steering wheel also facilitates easier access to the cockpit. The adjustable seats are comfortable and more supportive than the bench-back church pew seats in the traditional/classic Seven and fit well in the car. Another significant change is the replacement of the live axle with a De Dion tube, emi-independent rear end. Caterham uses a frame mounted Scorpio differential with the De Dion tube connecting the outer hubs for a vast improvement in ride quality. The De Dion rear has a calming effect on the Caterham's handling, articularly on bumpy roads. While the traditional suspension set-up can result in hop and chatter over rough roads, he De Dion car soaks up the bumps and remains largely unflustered and firmly planted on the road. The brakes are linear and strong and, onsidering the cars light weight results in excellent stopping distances. The front suspension on this car is excellent with some recent improvements including a Caterham steering rack, ew track rod ends, amper and springs. However, he Seven retains its basic geometry with the anti-roll bar doing double duty as the front half of the upper A-arm and the steering being as quick and agile as ever. While original 7's tended to oversteer badly in slow cornering, his has been eliminated through the use of a rear ant-roll bar and wider, von 185 60 14" tires. The cornering capabilities of the car are excellent with just the right amount of throttle initiated oversteer on demand. The "7" is fitted with the 135-bhp 1700cc Ford Kent engine. The engine is essentially a bored out, igh compression (9.7:1). With a total weight of 1212 lbs. (weighed when titled) and balanced, lue printed Ford Kent 1.6 liter Crossflow engine. Mated to a close ratio 5-speed gearbox, he performance numbers are impressive considering the displacement of the engine. Due to the cars weight (weighed in at 1,240 lbs., -60 times are in the mid 5 second range and we noted revs below 3,000rpm when cruising at above 65mph. The car has a wonderful power to weigh ratio, s well balanced, nd totally reliable This example has been very well maintained since it was delivered new to the cars original owner and the original delivery documentation is included. The car was delivered with the following equipment: - Super Seven Series III Left Hand Drive (LHD) long cockpit - Factory finished body in British Racing Green (BRG) with polished aluminum sides / rear - Black interior, arpet & trim / Smith's gauges (now carbon fibre dash) - Super Sprint 135 bhp Kent engine - Adjustable leather seats - 3-point seat belts with harness bracket for 4-point belts (now upgraded to 4-point belts) - Roll over bar (FIA roll bar included) - Tonneau cover - Lucas electronic ignition (now upgraded to Flamethrower) - Adjustable dampers (upgraded recently) - Rear "wing" protectors (now carbon fiber) - Oil cooler with thermostatic control - Motolita steering wheel (Now Momo quick release suede 10") - Stainless Steel Braided Lines - 6" x 14" KN alloy wheels (now Minitor Minilite style & Avon tires) - Rear View Mirror / side view carbon fibre mirrors - Wipers - Turn signals and lights - Fully functional gauges - Weather Gear (Top & Side Curtains) - Matching spare tire and alloy wheel - Lotus nose badge MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENTS The file that accompanies the Super Seven contains considerable information on the "7" that is too extensive to list in detail. However, t includes the following information and more! - Original correspondence between the cars original owner and the owner of Sevens & Elans, hristopher Tchorznikcu - Documentation of the cars original build specifications, ptions and support of it being a 1988 Series III long cockpit De Dion Super Sprint - Clear transferrable title showing the vehicle registered as a 1967 Lotus - An in depth summary of the restoration of the car and ongoing maintenance since it was delivered new to the original owner. HOW WAS THE SEVEN USED / DRIVEN? The Super Seven was used in a fashion that we see as typical for a car of this type. While this car is fitted with full weather gear and could be driven in inclement weather, t was used primarily as a fair weather car. The undercarriage supports this fact and shows extremely well (please refer to photos, ttached). The underside is free from signs of leakage or excessive accumulation of oil, rease or other fluids. There are no signs of accident or suspension damage and the underside accurately reflects the cars mileage. The owners used the Seven as a pleasure, eekend car enjoying the scenic winding roads in their area. There is no indication that the car has ever spent time on the track but, nstead was only used for spirited drives. However, hould the new car have an interest in a vehicle that can be driven to the track for an occasional track day and then driven home, his is certainly a candidate for that use. WHY BUY A CATERHAM SUPER SPRINT 1700? The Super Sprint retains the charm of an original Lotus Super Seven but, rankly, s better in virtually every respect. The car has a stiffer, tronger chassis yet the suspension is more compliant and the ride improved. It's faster, uicker stopping, etter balanced and even offers improved creature comforts. While the old Seven was fine for racing or short trips, his "7" is more versatile and can be used for a road trip or long journeys. We've had a dozen or more variants of Lotus cars and this is one of our favorites. Sure, ou can opt for a high horsepower example but, n our minds; somehow they just aren't as fun to drive. While we hate to admit it, here IS such a thing as too much horsepower when it comes to the delicate balance between horsepower and handling. The 7 in this configuration is more pure fun than just about anything on wheels. The car is a dead simple, uts and bolts car that allows the enthusiast to do his own repairs. And, t remains one of the most delightful things to have crouched in your garage, aiting for the right morning to reach for the keys and head to your favorite road. It is truly one of the last basic sports cars where all of the unnecessary "stuff" that could slow it down has been left out. OTHER - Clear title & licensed as a 1967 Lotus Super Seven - Passed the California required safety inspection for working wipers, urn signals, ights, rakes, tc. - Fully street legal but useable for street or track SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CATERHAM - Weight: 1212 lbs. - Length: 133" - Wheelbase: 88.5" - Height: 33" - Top speed approximately: 125 mph~ - Accelerates 0-60 mph: 5.5~seconds - Fuel Consumption: Overall 30~ mpg HISTORY OF THE LOTUS 7 (CATERHAM) The Caterham 7 (or Caterham Seven) is a super-lightweight sports car produced by Caterham Cars in the United Kingdom. It is based on the Lotus Seven, lightweight sports car sold in kit and factory-built form by Lotus Cars, rom 1957 to 1972. After Lotus ended production of the Lotus Seven, aterham bought the rights to the design, nd today make both kits and fully assembled cars.[1] 2007 marked the 50th year of production of the Lotus/Caterham 7. The Caterham 7 is a small, ightweight, wo-seater sports car renowned for its performance and handling. Various other manufacturers offer a sports car in a similar basic configuration, ut Caterham owns various legal rights to the Lotus Seven design and name. The company has taken legal action in the past in order to protect those rights. In South Africa, t lost its case against Birkin (a competitor) on the basis that it never obtained the claimed rights from Lotus.[2] The modern Seven is based on the Series 3 Lotus Seven, hough Caterham have developed it to the point that no part is the same as on the original Lotus. ABOUT CLASSIC CARS LTD. - Classic Cars Ltd. has been in the same, mall, alifornia town for over 20 years. We operate a small "brick & mortar", ndoor showroom, nd specialize in the sale, onsignment, nd purchase of sports, igh performance and specialty vehicles of all types. As a result, e do not purchase our collectible cars from "distressed" sales, uch as wholesale auctions, alvage sales, r lien sales. We do not sell vehicles with salvage titles, r those that have a history of significant accident damage or repair. We have sold hundreds of unique, lassic and collectible vehicles and regularly deal with buyers that have not had the experience of purchasing a large (both physically and monetarily) item on eBay, r through an Internet source. Our eBay feedback is 100% positive on all vehicle sales from customers around the globe and is a reflection of our commitment to accurate, omplete, nd thorough vehicle descriptions. - We have been shipping vehicles for years and have established excellent contacts that are not only high quality but very price competitive.
